An ambush on a Syrian security patrol near Latakia by pro-Assad gunmen has ignited days of clashes, leading to over 1,000 deaths and deepening sectarian tensions. The Alawite community, formerly central to Assad’s regime, faces significant violence and persecution under the new Islamist-led government.

It comes three days after the Supreme Court collegium made the recommendation for the elevation of Justice Bagchi to the Supreme Court. 

The fashion show has been billed as “obscene” by many and triggered protests in the assembly.
