Pakistan Police Use Tear Gas on Protesters Demanding Imran Khan’s Release

Police in Pakistan’s northwestern district of Attock fired tear gas on November 25 as they clashed with supporters of jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan, who were protesting for his release and marching towards the capital Islamabad.Highways leading to Islamabad were blocked as supporters of Khan, led by members of his Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, approached the city and were planning to gather near the parliament.“We’re determined to overcome their (the current government’s) stubbornness and ego, which seeks to keep our people subjugated and enslaved”, said local PTI member Ifran Saleem, who was at the Gazi Barotha Canal Bridge in Attock, less than 90km away from Islamabad, where the clashes between police and PTI supporters happened. The protest march, which Khan described as the “final call”, is one of many his party had held to seek his release since he was jailed in August last year. n18oc_world n18oc_crux
