Halloween Day is celebrated on October 31 in various parts of the world. On this day, people dress up in spooky or quirky costumes and have fun. Some decorate their houses with pumpkin carvings, cobwebs, and ghosts. This day is also celebrated in India, with an increasing influence of Western culture, especially through pop culture. To celebrate this global day of spookiness, we have compiled a list of the best Netflix characters to draw inspiration from for Halloween costumes.
Yes, all of them are from Bollywood. The characters presented in the list below include Shanti Priya from Om Shanti Om, Vanraj Kashyap from Shaitaan, and more.
Directed by actor-filmmaker Amol Palekar, Paheli starred Shah Rukh Khan in dual roles as Kishanlal and the unnamed ghost. Rani Mukerji was cast as Kishanlal’s wife, Lachchi.
SRK, as the ghost, would make the perfect Halloween character with his charm and playful nature. If you wish to recreate his look for the day, remember to wear vibrant traditional outfits and add a Rajasthani turban and moustache.
Farah Khan’s directorial Om Shanti Om was headlined by Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone. Both actors played dual roles in the 2007 film. While SRK played Om Prakash Makhija and Om Kapoor, Deepika was cast as Shanti Priya and Sandy.
Deepika’s look as Shanti Priya’s ghost in the climax would be a great pick for Halloween. All you need to do is recreate the vintage look of yesteryear actresses. Add bold eyeliner, dramatic eyelashes, vibrant lipstick, a large hairdo, and everything else that can make you look like Shanti Priya.
R Madhavan’s character in Vikas Bahl’s directorial is one of the best Halloween looks to sport this year. He played the role of Vanraj Kashyap, a black magician whose real look is revealed in the climax. If you were mind-boggled by his performance in the film, you might want to recreate his look from the Ajay Devgn-starrer.
R Madhavan, as Vanraj Kashyap, sported a loose black and red outfit. You can try smokey eye makeup, which can also cover the under-eye area to give your face an intense look. If you have messy hair, then you won’t need to work on your hairstyle because it will work. You can also carry a spooky accessory around your neck.
Directed by Hardik Mehta, Roohi starred Janhvi Kapoor as Roohi and Afsa. Her character was shown possessed by a demon spirit, Mudiyapairi, who identifies herself as Afsa. If you wish to delve into Janhvi’s character Roohi on Halloween, you can pick faded colored kurtis with patterns on them.
Keep your hair open and add some fake red-colored marks on your face. You can also keep some of them near your mouth to show that your character is thirsty for blood.
Rajkumar Hirani’s 2014 film PK featured some of the greatest outfits of the lead actor, Aamir Khan. Aamir played a humanoid alien in the movie. While Aamir as PK wasn’t a ghost, his quirky character would be a unique choice for the Halloween look.
You can pair up your shirt and blazer with ghaghra and carry a radio on your shoulder. You can also style yourself in a cop uniform with his makeup and body language.
Remember when Naseeruddin Shah turned into a ghost, Marco? We are talking about his 1992 film, Chamatkar. Rajiv Mehra’s directorial also starred Shah Rukh Khan and Urmila Matondar in the lead roles. In Chamatkar, Naseeruddin played the role of Marco, the gangster who was killed and buried in a cemetery.
SRK’s character, Sunder Srivastava, is a young graduate who meets the ghost and later realizes that it is only visible to him. Marco would be a great choice for fashion enthusiasts who want to attend a Halloween party. For the look, you can opt for a lapel overcoat, a blazer, a shirt, and a round hat.
Which character would you look to recreate this Halloween?

Brother starring Jayam Ravi is making its way to the big screens this year for Diwali as it releases on October 31, 2024. The movie showcases the life of Karthik, a law college dropout who stands against any sort of injustice and questions anyone over it.
Fed up with his antics, his elder sister takes him to her in-laws’ house to change him. The rest of the film focuses on whether the man changes in his ways and reforms as everyone wishes. Aside from Jayam Ravi, the movie also has actors like Priyanka Mohan, Bhumika Chawla, Saranya Ponvannan, Seetha, Natarajan Subramaniam, Achyuth Kumar, Rao Ramesh, and more in key roles.
Brother starring Jayam Ravi in the lead focuses on the life of a young man called Karthik. From an early age of his life, the man questions anything and everything that happens around him, striving for justice. Keeping his character in mind, the man is even enrolled to study as a lawyer but is also made to drop out of there due to his nature.
As life goes on, Karthik continues to live his carefree life by questioning every injustice, living with his mother and father in Chennai. However, one of his antics causes his father to suffer a heart attack which forces his elder sister to take him to her in-laws’ house where he could be reformed.
With Karthik yet again creating various problems in his sister’s house, things take a wild turn which sets up the rest of the movie. If you’re planning to watch the Jayam Ravi starrer in theaters, here’s the Pinkvilla review to help you decide whether to watch it in theaters or not.
The movie Brother starring Jayam Ravi is a caricaturish tale of comedy and drama that goes on inside a family. As the actor plays the role of a carefree adult, not thinking about his actions, it shines through him which offers a sense of solace in its experience.
The movie’s storyline offers something breezy and fun to watch which makes us chuckle at a few points here and there. Moreover, the film takes place in the picturesque landscapes of Ooty in the Nilgiris. The serenity of the hill station offers a mindful escape in terms of visuals.
Coming to the technical side of the film, the movie has one of the best Harris Jayraj compositions that can be listened to in recent times. The composer’s songs which include a love track and a wedding song stood out as reminiscent of his formative years despite having an underwhelming impact in terms of choreography.
The Jayam Ravi starrer flick suffers deeply from an outdated script which is coupled with an age-old narration. The old-school style of adapting a simple story like this would have been a hit in the 1990s or early 2000s of Tamil cinema but the same would only feel like a travesty in today’s day and age.
Neither understanding the essence of adding nostalgia nor understanding the prominence of pop culture references, the movie takes a hit in its execution which makes us wonder why we are even watching this. Despite some minor chuckles here and there, the film does not pack anything in terms of humor and the melodrama that goes along with it once again falls short of connecting anywhere.
From a writing pov, the movie does not offer any significant reason for a character arc nor does the one provided hit you to the core for an emotional response, feeling as if a child wrote it. To easily sum up the writing of the film, it would be best to term it “uncreative” or simply, “cringe.”
Additionally, none of the characters are explored organically along with a love angle that spurts out of nowhere without any cause or action.
Jayam Ravi, Priyanka Arul Mohan, and Bhumika Chawla are the leading actors in the movie playing key roles, but out of the 3 only Bhumika offered some grounds for her portrayal. While Jayam Ravi breezed through the same as with any comedy films he’s done before, Priyanka yet again became a scarecrow that just appeared in and out of the frame, for whatever reason.
Rao Ramesh in his egotistical supporting character and MS Bhaskar giving us a small cameo appearance, it would be fair to say that they were saving graces in a sinking ship.

Brother is just another formulaic comedy movie that does not offer much from an entertainment factor. If you want a Diwali movie that offers some minute laughs along with your family, then go ahead. Otherwise, it’s better to avoid the same.
