Aditya Roy Kapur recalls ‘tough’ period after back-to-back box office failures: ‘There have been vulnerable moments’

Bollywood star Aditya Roy Kapur, known for delivering several hits, recently opened up about facing some ‘vulnerable moments’ in his career. Reflecting on a ‘tough period’ when back-to-back flops left him out of work, he shared how crucial it was to have a strong support system to lean on. He emphasized that having friends and family by his side was the key to pulling through those challenging times.

During his conversation with Kareena Kapoor Khan on her chat show What Women Want, Aditya Roy Kapur opened up about various challenging phases in his life that left him feeling vulnerable. He recounted experiences ranging from academic failures and health scares to struggling with film flops.

The Night Manager actor reflected on how some of his films didn’t resonate, and he found himself disenchanted with the roles being offered at the time. “There have been vulnerable moments, like films not working, or when one hasn’t had work. A few films didn’t do well and I didn’t like anything (that was being offered), maybe because I was vulnerable at that point of time,” he said.

This tough period, marked by a lack of work and dissatisfaction, underscored the importance of having a strong support system. He said, “It was a tough period where I wasn’t liking anything and not working for a while.” Aditya acknowledged that the encouragement of friends and family was instrumental in helping him navigate those difficult moments.

When Kareena inquired about how he copes with failures, Aditya explained that his approach varies depending on the film. He highlighted the significant investment of time and effort that goes into making a movie, including the intense promotional activities that build up anticipation. After dedicating nearly a year to a project, the impact of a flop can be profound.

He also noted that the exhilarating buildup can make a film’s failure feel particularly jarring. It stings, and he admitted that it takes time to process the disappointment and come to terms with it.  “It always does hurt, it takes time to seep in and for you to come to terms with it. I am on my own, before I go out in the world again,” he added.

Aditya Roy Kapur made his debut in 2009 with the film London Dreams, featuring Salman Khan and Ajay Devgn. He garnered significant attention in 2013 with his breakout role in Aashiqui 2, alongside Shraddha Kapoor. Since then, he has starred in a string of popular films, including Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Ok Jaanu, and Kalank.

His latest project, The Night Manager, marked his debut in the OTT space. Aditya is set to appear next in Metro In Dino, directed by Anurag Basu, where he shares the screen with Sara Ali Khan. This film is a sequel to the 2007 hit Life In A Metro and features a talented ensemble cast, including Fatima Sana Shaikh, Pankaj Tripathi, and Anupam Kher.

THROWBACK: When Karan Johar revealed the unique way he would convince Salman Khan to do his film

Karan Johar is one Indian filmmaker who has worked with almost all B-town stars in his movies, over the past decades. The actor worked with the filmmaker briefly in the 1998 movie, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. While sharing the couch on Koffee With Karan Season 8, Episode 5, Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra decided to hunt the hunter and quizzed him on his rapid-fire round. When questioned how he convinced Salman Khan for a movie, KJo gave an epic response.

Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra were invited to spill some beans on the coffee couch on Karan Johar’s chat show, Koffee With Karan. In Episode 5 of Season 8, the filmmaker got under the spotlight when he was quizzed by the two handsome hunks. As the Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahaani maker hosted them for a quick rapid-fire round, Varun and Sid insisted they should also ask some burning questions related to him and B-town.

Karan was easily convinced of it soon after which, the Bhediya actor questioned, “How do you get Salman Khan to say ‘yes’ to a movie?” To this, he replied, “Beg, borrow, steal.” Shershaah actor Sid chipped in and asked the director to name his three best friends from the industry. Without thinking much, the maker took the names of Shah Rukh Khan and Aditya Chopra but couldn’t recall the third person he could call his friend in the industry, making everyone laugh out loud!

The next question from Varun was “How do you seduce someone you like?” Well, Karan had a quick answer to that. He said, “Bite their ear” and before he could share any more information about the same, the buzzer rang indicating he was out of time. At the Pinkvilla Masterclass last year, Karan Johar indicated at a possible collaboration with the Tiger 3 star for the big screen soon.

He exclusively told us, “I have the deepest respect for Salman and his entire family. My father was very close to Salim Saab (Salim Khan). The fact that Salman said yes to Kuch Kuch Hota Hai has never left my heart. All I can say at this moment is that the relationship will hopefully find celluloid space very soon. I am not confirming it, nor am I denying it as I am superstitious about certain things. I will speak about it when the time is right.”

We are excited about this possible collab between Salman and Karan. Are you?

Jennifer Lawrence Expecting Second Child With Husband Cooke Maroney? Here’s What We Know So Far

Jennifer Lawrence is reportedly expecting her second child with husband Cooke Maroney, as per a report by Vogue magazine. Representatives of the actress reportedly confirmed the news to the publication on Sunday, October 20, 2024.

The confirmation came after The Hunger Games star stepped out for dinner in Los Angeles the night before. According to Page Six, Lawrence was photographed wearing a white T-shirt and a low-waist black skirt with a red sweater wrapped around her shoulders.

The actress reportedly covered her baby bump with a red cardigan during a low-key outing in Beverly Hills last month, the publication noted.

The latest news comes two years after Jennifer Lawrence and Cooke Maroney welcomed their first child Cy. The Academy-Award winning actress gave birth to her son in February 2022 and named him after Maroney’s favorite painter, Cy Twombly.

Jennifer Lawrence and Cooke Maroney first sparked romance rumors in 2018. They got engaged in February 2019 and tied the knot in October that same year.

The Don’t Look Up star opened up about her experience with her firstborn during a Vogue interview in September 2022. She recalled just staring at her baby boy after giving birth and said, “I was just so in love.”

She also called newborns “amazing” and adorably described them as “pink, swollen, fragile little survivors.” The actress further revealed how she started loving every baby after welcoming her son, “My heart has stretched to a capacity that I didn’t know about.”

Prior to welcoming Cy, Lawrence suffered a miscarriage and underwent a Dilatation and Curettage procedure. The actress also told Vogue that she experienced her first miscarriage during her 20s at a time when she was all by herself in Montreal.

The news of Jennifer Lawrence’s second pregnancy comes ahead of the release of Zurawski v Texas in October 25. The documentary, created to showcase the impact of strict anti-abortion laws in Texas, is executive produced by Lawrence alongside Hillary Clinton. The film will premiere in Los Angeles, New York, Austin, and San Antonio.

The Silver Linings Playbook star is yet to reveal her fist child’s face and previously said that she plans to keep her children out of the public eye. “Every instinct in my body wants to protect their privacy for the rest of their lives, as much as I can,” Lawrence told Vanity Fair in the past.

On the work front, Jennifer Lawrence recently wrapped filming for Lynne Ramsay’s Die, My Love, in which she stars opposite Robert Pattinson.
