Shah Rukh Khan is an actor who is not just loved in India but is revered all across the globe. He has given out several iconic characters and one such is Devdas. The Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial, which is based on a novel by Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay, starred SRK, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Madhuri Dixit in key roles.v

Shah Rukh’s portrayal of an alcoholic character left a lasting impact. Recently, he revealed that he said yes to the role, despite many veteran actors discouraging him. He just did it for the sake of his late mother, thinking she would enjoy it from heaven.

At the Locarno Film Festival, where he received the Pardo alla Carriera Ascona-Locarno Tourism award, he opened up about his career and movies.

During the conversation, he revealed that he felt anxious while filming Devdas and he turned to alcohol during the process. On being asked whether it helped him ace the role, he said, “It might have helped, but I started drinking after the film and that’s one downside to it. Well, I got the Best Actor award.”

He also explained that he didn’t want the audience to feel love for his character. Shah Rukh said, “Nor did I want you to like him for being an alcoholic who runs away from every girl that he falls in love with. I just wanted him to appear indescribable.”

Devdas also featured Kirron Kher, Jackie Shroff, Smita Jaykar, Tiku Talsania and Milind Gunaji among others.

Ridley Scott’s highly anticipated series Alien: Earth starring Adarsh Gourav is set to premiere in the first half of 2025. Created by Noah Hawley, the show marks the actor’s third international project after The White Tiger and Extrapolations.

Alien: Earth is set to take the Alien franchise in an exciting new direction. The series will blend elements from Ridley Scott’s 1979 original Alien film and the 1986 follow-up Aliens but with a fresh narrative set 30 years before the original movie.

Opening up about the show, Adarsh Gourav said, “Shooting Aliens: Earth was an unreal experience. To be part of this franchise and this genre. I’m over the moon to be part of the Alien universe. Having grown up on Ridley Scott’s Alien films which had a key influence on me – the tension, the world-building, the sense of awe and the world they created. To now be part of this iconic franchise is surreal. Working on Alien: Earth has been an incredible experience, not only because of the sheer scale of the production but also due to the immense talent of everyone involved. Noah Hawley has crafted a brilliant narrative that honours the legacy of the original films while expanding it in exciting new ways. 2025 is when the series is all set to debut, and I am excited to see the fans’ reaction to it”.

BTS’ rapper J-Hope is back home after completing 18-months of mandatory service at the South Korean military. The MORE singer had enlisted for the services in April 2023.

J-Hope was photographed in his military uniform before being officially discharged. The rapper posed for paparazzi while making his way out of the base in October 17, 2024. He also thanked his fans before heading back into his agency’s headquarters. He was accompanied by fellow member Jin, who was discharged in June.

Many applauded him for his services and cheered on him for the next phase in his career. “I was able to finish the service well and in good health thank to the fans,” he said, before adding, “While I was serving for 1.5 years as an assistant drill instructor, I did a lot of marches and met quite a lot of citizens of Wonju along the way. They always greeted the soldiers and cheered us on. I wanted to say thank you to the citizens. It was really really moving and I don’t know how to express this warm emotion for them,” J-Hope said.

On the work front, J-Hope dropped photos with Pharrell Williams, igniting rumours about a collaboration. “P & j. Can’t wait for 2025,” the rapper noted.
