A recent major leak from Pokemon has revealed that the franchise is facing behind-the-scenes struggles with its anime movies. For decades, Pokemon released films consistently, starting with the first movie in 1998. This streak continued until 2020, when the franchise unexpectedly stopped releasing annual films. Now, a new leak appears to explain why the 24th Pokemon movie has been delayed.

As per Comicbook, the leak, reportedly over a terabyte in size, surfaced online earlier this week and is said to contain data from Game Freak, the company behind the Pokemon video games. Within the leaked files, details about the next Pokemon movie were uncovered. According to the information, the 24th film, codenamed “Bauer,” began production in 2021. However, its release has been delayed indefinitely, with no clear timeline for when it might arrive.

The leak also provided a rough synopsis of the movie’s plot. It suggested that the film would have rebooted the Pokemon movie universe, aiming to attract older fans. Set in modern-day Kanto, the movie was supposed to feature Mew as the main mythical Pokemon and focus on two original characters, Light and Akari. The plot would have dealt with darker themes, including cyberbullying and suicide, which made some executives uneasy. The serious tone of the film raised concerns about whether it would be appropriate for younger viewers, a large part of the Pokemon fanbase.

Lupita Nyong’o is a master at what she does. In her career spanning over a decade, the actress has wowed the audience and critics alike. However, one thing to note about her impressive resume is that it not only boasts of characters like Nakia from Black Panther or Red from Us but also shines a light on her voice-acting skills, with The Jungle Book, Star Wars, and the latest addition, The Wild Robot. 

In an exclusive chat with Pinkvilla, the actress shared her love for her craft. She reveals she likes the characters she’s been “offered to play in the world of voice acting.” Though A Quite Place actress points out, “I think I just like acting, and I like to do it in whatever ways I can.” Nyong’o states she believes what makes this particular form of acting “unique” is that it comes with “limitations’ but at the same time, it feels like a “creative challenge” she needs to overcome. Lupita reveals, “I enjoy challenging myself, and growing.”

In her upcoming movie The Wild Robot, Lupita voices the main character, Roz. Finding itself stuck in a deserted place after a crash, the at-the-beginning unfeeling machine forms a bond with the native animals of the island. Nyong’o talks about the ‘evolution’ of her character. She Says, “Roz is this robot that is in her factory settings and as such, her voice in the beginning is very chipper and positive but programmed.”

However, as our beloved main character goes through her arc, it is heard in her voice over time. The actress adds, “As she adapts to this island, her voice changes to kind of reflect those changes that she’s going through.” Lupita was certainly in her element as she revealed she tried to find a way to show Roz’s growth “as subtly as possible” through her acting.

The star-studded cast of The Wild Robot also includes Pedro Pascal, Kit Connor, Bill Nighty, Stephanie Hsu, Mark Hamil, and many more talented artists. The Lupita Nyong’o starrer will be out in cinemas on 18th October in India.
