Jigra Box Office Collections Day 2: Alia Bhatt spearheaded jailbreak-drama sees a CUSTOMARY 50 percent growth on Dussehra Saturday

Jigra directed by Vasan Bala and starring Alia Bhatt, Vedang Raina, Manoj Pahwa and others, grew by 50 percent on Dussehra holiday. With Rs 6.75 crore on Saturday, the two day cume of the jailbreak-drama stands at Rs 11.25 crore. Jigra is headed for a Rs 18 crore weekend and that surely isn’t an optimal result. The movie will be relying on a strong hold after the weekend to reach a respectable final total.

Jigra Grows By 50 Percent On Dussehra Saturday

Jigra was trailing behind Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video on the first day but it has somehow matched the collections of the comedy-drama on its second day. If Jigra eclipses Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video on Sunday, it will most likely hold better over the weekdays too, to emerge as the more preferred Hindi film this Dussehra. The Alia Bhatt starrer has already opened bigger and is trending better than its competing release, internationally.

Jigra leading Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video doesn’t and wouldn’t mean much because there already is a stark difference in the size of both the films. Jigra is not just a bigger film in terms of cost of production, it is also bigger in terms of face value.

The Indian Box Office This Dussehra Is Dominated By Rajinikanth’s Vettaiyan

This Dussehra is dominated by the Tamil film Vettaiyan, led by superstar Rajinikanth. The fight for the second place is between the two major Hindi releases. Taking about Jigra’s economics, it has recovered all its costs from the sale of non-theatrical rights alone. The film’s verdict however is based only on its theatrical performance and not the recoveries.

About Jigra

Satya (Alia Bhatt) and Ankur (Vedang Raina) are orphans. Satya, being the elder one, is over-protective of her brother and is more like a parent to him. They live with a rich and powerful relative of theirs. Satya never feels like she, or her brother, is a part of their family.

Ankur is a programmer. He is good friends with Kabir, the son of the relative Satya and Ankur are living with. They go to Hanshi Dao, an island in South East Asia, to pitch a business idea. One night, when Ankur and Kabir are returning to their hotel rooms, they get caught by the local police. Kabir is the one with the drugs but it is Ankur who gets wrongly implicated, much thanks to Kabir’s powerful father. Ankur is given a life sentence.

Singham Again: Ajay Devgn channels his inner Ram as he performs Raavan Dahan in Delhi along with Kareena Kapoor, Rohit Shetty; WATCH

Rohit Shetty’s upcoming directorial, Singham Again, will be released on Diwali (November 1) this year. Starring Ajay Devgn and Kareena Kapoor Khan as the leads, Singham Again is creating quite a buzz on social media before its release. On the occasion of Dussehra, Ajay Devgn channeled his inner Ram as he performed Raavan Dahan in Delhi along with Kareena Kapoor and Rohit Shetty.

In a video posted by a paparazzo on Instagram, Ajay Devgn can be seen holding Lord Hanuman’s golden-colored Gada in his hands. He is accompanied by his co-star Kareena Kapoor and director Rohit Shetty for the event.

Both Kareena and Rohit are also posing in the same way. The trio are sporting traditional outfits for the occasion. While Ajay wore a black bandhgala, Kareena looked stunning in a purple embroidered lehenga. Rohit opted for a black sherwani for the night.

In another glimpse from the clip, Ajay, Kareena, and Rohit can be seen lifting the bow and arrow on the stage. The Singham Again team attended the Raavan Dahan event while promoting their upcoming film.

Going by the video, the stage is well-lit and decorated for Vijayadashami. The crowd is recording their appearances on their mobile phones and cameras.

The Dussehra celebration was held at Luv Kush Ram Leela Maidaan outside Red Fort (Lal Quila) in Delhi. According to a Hindustan Times report, the Singham Again team was invited to the event in Delhi while honouring their contribution to promoting Indian culture.

Arjun Singh, the president of the Luv Kush Ramleela Committee of Delhi, extended the invitation to Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor, and Rohit Shetty. In a statement, Arjun shared that the committee has invited them to the celebration “to mark the victory of good over evil”.

In Singham Again, Ajay Devgn is reprising his role as DCP Bajirao Singham and Kareena Kapoor is cast as his on-screen wife, Avani Kamat. Singham Again is the third installment of the Singham franchise. It also stars Akshay Kumar, Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, Tiger Shroff, and Jackie Shroff. Arjun Kapoor is playing the role of an antagonist in Rohit Shetty’s directorial.
