When Mahima Chaudhry requested Ajay Devgn and Prakash Jha to not speak about her accident to ‘salvage’ her career; recalls being called ‘scarface’

Mahima Chaudhry made her acting debut with the 1997 movie Pardes. The actress was rising to fame when she met with a fatal accident that left scars on her face. But since she didn’t want her career to take a setback, she requested her Dil Kya Kare co-star Ajay Devgn and director Prakash Jha to not speak about the incident in a bid to ‘salvage’ her career.

During the inception of her career, veteran Indian actress Mahima Chaudhry met with an accident that led to 67 glass pieces being taken out of her face. During a chat with Radio Nasha, the star expressed that when the incident took place, she didn’t realize that she had multiple cuts on her face. When she went to the bathroom and saw the mirror, she realized that her face was injured. But before that, she was telling Dil Kya Kare helmer Prakash Jha that if nothing had happened, they should continue shooting the movie. But the filmmaker denied doing so and suggested they should wait, go out, and talk about new dates.

When he returned after having a conversation with actor and producer of the film, Ajay Devgn, the first thing she told them was “Please don’t tell anyone that I have gone through this. Let me at least try and see what I can salvage my career with.” Since then, the two celebs, along with the production team never spoke about it to anyone. It was Mahima who finally broke her silence about it 20 years after the accident. “It is commendable. I used to go on set and everyone could see it,” she recalled.

The Dhadkan actress stated that a film magazine secretly documented it and called her ‘scarface’. But apart from that, there was no discussion about her injury. At the time when she thought she wouldn’t be able to come out of it, the Singham Again star would tell her that after the surgeries, it would all be fine but she didn’t believe it. “I was thinking of other career options. Even today, my one eye is smaller than the other. Back then, it was very stressful,” she stated adding that she never faced the camera straight and would always angle her face a bit. Eventually, Dil Kya Kare, which also starrer Kajol and Chandrachur Singh became a box office success.

Neve Campbell Starrer Scream 7 To Hit Theaters On THIS Date; Check Release Details Here

The Scream film franchise is expanding with the seventh edition of the movies releasing in 2026. The makers of the movies have set the date for the movie release to be on February 27, 2026.

According to the reports, Neve Campbell will return to the franchise by reprising her role of Sidney Prescott. The actress’ return was confirmed after her alleged salary disputes with Kevin Williamson, the creator of the movie series, and the director of the upcoming film.

As for the date slot, the film has been perfectly placed with no other major titles clashing in on the same weekend. On the following weekend, The Cat in the Hat and Pixar’s Hoppers are slated, which is expected to attract an audience in bulk.

Ahead of setting the date, the film’s cast and crew members underwent some offscreen issues, including Melissa Barera getting fired from the franchise over her comments on the Israel-Hamas war, which fueled the fire.

Jenna Ortega was roped in for the upcoming film but ultimately had to drop out due to her date commitments on Wednesday, and the director, too, got replaced due to some unknown reasons.

John Amos, Coming To America And Good Times Actor Dies At 84; ‘Man With The Kindest Heart’

Trigger Warning: This article contains mentions of death.

John Amos, one of the most legendary sitcom artists known for his roles in Good Times, Coming To America, Roots, and others passed away at 84 of natural causes. The Emmy-nominated actor’s son Kelly Christopher, aka KC, confirmed the tragic news in a statement to PEOPLE.

“It is with heartfelt sadness that I share with you that my father has transitioned,” he wrote. He was a man with the kindest heart and a heart of gold… and he was loved the world over,” KC added. He acknowledged how many viewers considered the late actor their “TV father.” Amos has lived a good life and left a long legacy through his outstanding works in television and films.

“My father loved working as an actor throughout his entire life,” he added. Most recently he appeared in Suits LA as himself and his documentary titled America’s Dad. “He was my dad, my best friend, and my hero. Thank you for your prayers and support at this time,” KC concluded his statement.

A few months earlier, Amos had been hospitalized due to fluid filling his lower body and causing issues with his heart. However, he was drained of the excessive fluids and was on the road to recovery. The Coming to America actor first entered the spotlight in 1964 as a player for the Denver Broncos. He briefly played for the Kansas City Chiefs before leaving the NFL for the Continental League.

In 1970, he made his television debut with The Billy Cosby Show and eventually landed his breakout role as Gordy Howard on The Mary Tyler Moore Show. After the show ended in 1973, Amos was cast for a role in a TV show highlighting the Black community called Good Times. The show was a success, but the actor’s persistence for authentic Black representation led to his exit in 1976.

He told VladTV that the producers’ perception of a Black family and portrayal of a Black patriarch was completely different than his idea which was steeped in reality. Since he’d become a “disruptive element” and his services were no longer needed, he gladly exited the show. He later starred in the groundbreaking TV series Roots and earned an Emmy nomination. “You don’t anticipate that kind of success because that’s dreaming and that’s one thing actors can’t afford to do,” Amos told The Wrap in 2022.
