Thangalaan producer is overwhelmed by films mega success

Chiyaan Vikram’s latest release, Thangalaan, continues to break records across the nation. After a massive success in the South, where it crossed the Rs 100 crore mark at the box-office, the film is now receiving tremendous appreciation in the North. Following its Hindi release on September 6, Thangalaan has seen a sharp increase in the number of screens in theaters, with houseful shows in multiple cities, proving its growing popularity.

Producer K. E. Gnanavel Raja, overjoyed by the success, expressed his gratitude, saying, “I am truly overwhelmed by the incredible response Thangalaan has received from the audience. It’s heartening to see a local story resonate so deeply across the nation, with people embracing and celebrating our culture.”

Thangalaan narrates the true story of the Kolar Gold Fields (KGF) during British rule, highlighting the exploitation of local tribes. Directed by Pa. Ranjith, and featuring an impressive cast including Chiyaan Vikram and Malavika Mohanan, the film has become a shining example of South Indian cinema’s ability to present unique, authentic stories to wider audiences.

EXCLUSIVE: Vihaan Samat recalls auditioning for Ms. Marvel and Free Guy

Vihaan Samat has recently enthralled the audience with his portrayal of Agastya Chowdhury in Call Me Bae. Starring alongside Ananya Panday in a leading role, the actor played the rich businessman who married Ananya’s character Bella, but couldn’t keep the marriage eventually.

Vihaan recently spoke to Filmfare about his experience of working with the star cast in the series, his aspirations as an actor, roles he failed to secure and much more. While speaking about a successful opportunity with Michael Keaton, Vihaan opened up about auditioning for lead roles in different shows, including an Indie movie. He also revealed having auditioned for Marvel characters in the Iman Vellani led Ms. Marvel. Delving deeper, he said, “There was this project I remember auditioning for long ago, Ms Marvel as one of the guys in it. I also auditioned for Ryan Reynolds’ Free Guy, which was then called Mouser, or something like that. I was one of the people catching Ryan Reynolds in one of the scenes.”

He further added, “I did a bunch of these auditions. I didn’t land any of them, or I’d be in the movies (Laughs).” Vihaan did not hesitate to narrate his experience with Michael Keaton. Recalling the moment, he noted, “I did a small audition for this film with Michael Keaton, called Worth. I was playing a student’s role. They asked me to react to whatever he is saying.” He opened up about doing his bit and getting a call back for the part. “I went to the set and had my own van… On the sets, some main students who had a couple of lines were sitting, including me. He just came in and started walking, while listening to music. He spoke to the director and started doing the scene. We started reacting when we realized that he had already begun acting. Nobody told us anything.”

Apart from this, Vihaan will next be seen in CTRL and The Royals. He is also gearing up for Mismatched 3.

Earlier this year, Anil Kapoor celebrated the film’s milestone by sharing behind-the-scenes pictures, including details about how he shot the song Ramta Jogi without any rehearsals. With the re-release, Taal is set to create excitement all over again for a new generation of fans.
