‘Just like RRR, we wanted to…’: Jr NTR on casting Bollywood actors Janhvi Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan for Devara

Jr NTR’s upcoming film Devara has been on the social media buzz for all the right reasons, especially considering it to be the actor’s solo release after a span of six years. Additionally, the project also marks the South cinema debut of two massively successful Bollywood actors, Janhvi Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan. And recently, at the pre-release event for Devara, Jr NTR spilled the beans on what led behind such impeccable casting.

Jr NTR mentioned that the team of Devara really wanted to create a project resembling the humble start off of his previous film RRR, which went on to win big at the global level. In fact, just like the SS Rajamouli directorial, the actor wanted Devara to be a film that would ‘resonate across the country’.

Speaking about Janhvi essaying the lead role of Thangam in the film, Jr NTR mentioned how the team wasn’t very sure about the casting for the particular character for the longest time. However, it was filmmaker Karan Johar who suggested the diva’s name for the movie.

Tarak said, “Honestly, while writing the script, we hadn’t zeroed in on anybody to play the female lead. But she was manifesting it so much, and then Karan Johar called me and said, Jahnvi is a bright actor, and we should have her in the movie.”

Moving on in the revelations, Jr NTR also spilled the beans on the many apprehensions Janhvi had for the particular role in the film, especially concerning the fact that she would have to deliver dialogues in Telugu. Moreover, the actor revealed how the diva was scared if she was compatible enough to live up to the legacy of her mother and late actress, Sridevi.

He said, “Yes, she had a lot of fear and tension within her. How would she speak Telugu? How would she deliver her performance in Telugu? How would she dance, and most importantly, would she be able to live up to the legacy of Sridevi garu? But she just shocked us with her performance.”

Towards the concluding segment of the interaction, Jr NTR also spoke his mind on what went behind roping in a senior Bollywood actor like Saif Ali Khan to essay the role of the antagonist in the film.

The Janatha Garage star revealed that the makers wanted Saif to reprise a strong role similar to the character of Langda Tyagi from his older movie Omkara. He said, “We wanted to create someone like Langda Tyagi. He will have a strong presence in the narrative.”

Devara: Part 1, directed by Koratala Siva, would hit theaters on September 27, 2024.

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs Spotted Playing Frisbee In Central Park Just Hours Before His Arrest

Trigger Warning: This article includes references to sexual abuse, sex trafficking, and drugs.

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs was taken into custody by federal officials from a Manhattan hotel on Monday evening, September 16. However, hours before he was arrested for racketeering and s*x trafficking, Diddy was having fun in Central Park in New York, seemingly unfazed by his growing legal troubles.

On Monday, during his final hours of freedom, the music mogul—real name Sean Combs—was spotted kicking what looked to be a hacky sack, as per People. During the same outing, Diddy, 54, was captured on camera browsing through his phone while basking in the sun.

Combs has been accused of racketeering, sex trafficking, and providing transportation for the purpose of engaging in prostitution, as per his unsealed indictment on Tuesday.

The rapper had denied the charges and put up his and his mother’s Miami houses as collateral when a federal judge denied him bail on Tuesday. According to Diddy’s attorneys, he moved to New York because he thought he would be charged.

Combs’ indictment, which detailed the graphic specifics of the accusations against him, was unveiled the next day. According to court documents, Combs coerced victims into taking part in freak offs, which are defined as elaborate and produced s*x performances.

Rapper allegedly used influence and substances like oxycodone, cocaine, and ketamine to frighten and force women to participate the freak offs. Furthermore, it’s said that occasionally the freak offs were caught on video without the victims’ knowledge.

It is reported that during search of his premises, a thousand bottles of baby oil were found. Prosecutors further claim that the women who took part in the freak offs were so exhausted from the long s*x sessions that they need IV drips. A videotaped attack on his ex-girlfriend, R&B singer Cassie, is also mentioned in passing in the indictment.

Combs entered a not guilty plea on his court date. A $50 million bail package, including a $50,000 bond for him, was what his lawyers had suggested. Still, the founder of Bad Boy Records was remanded to custody pending trial and his bail was denied. Furthermore, authorities claimed that Combs’ hotel room, where he was taken into custody on Monday, had what seemed to be drugs.

If you need support or know someone who is struggling with substance abuse, domestic violence, assault, or abuse, please reach out to your nearest mental health specialist, NGO, or speak to someone about it. There are several helplines available for the same.

India Gets US Court Summons In Alleged Plot To Murder Khalistani Terrorist

A US court has summoned the Indian government after Khalistani terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun filed a civil lawsuit, alleging a plot to murder him. The summons by the US District Court for Southern District of New York names Government of India, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, former R&AW chief Samant Goel, R&AW agent Vikram Yadav, and Indian businessman Nikhil Gupta. The summons asks New Delhi and those named to file a reply within 21 days.

The Centre is yet to respond to the summons. Pannu’s X handle, on which he shared a copy of the summons, has been withheld.

In November, the UK newspaper Financial Times reported that the US had thwarted a plot to kill Pannun, who heads the radical outfit, Sikhs for Justice, and holds dual citizenship of the US and Canada. Officials in the Joe Biden administration later confirmed this.

In its first response, the External Affairs Ministry said it is a “matter of concern” and stressed that India has launched a high-level probe.

“As regards the case against an individual that has been filed in a US court, allegedly linking him to an Indian official, this is a matter of concern. We have said that this is also contrary to government policy,” then MEA spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said.

In May this year, External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar said India is investigating the matter, but stressed that it would not impact the “upward trajectory” of India-US ties.

“The United States brought to our attention certain information in good faith because we also believe some of it has implications for our own system,” he said in an interview to news agency PTI.

“We are investigating it. But I do not think the fundamental course of the upward trajectory of India-US is impacted by this at all,” he said.

US ambassador to India Eric Garcetti has told NDTV that this matter will not affect India-US ties.

Pannun is known to put out incendiary speeches and threats against Indian leaders and institutions. New Delhi designated him a terrorist in 2020.
