Arijit Singh, Ed Sheeran’s ‘perfect moments’ from London concert collab had fireworks exploding on stage; fans say ‘We can die peacefully’

The internet is screaming and there’s a solid reason. Arijit Singh and Ed Sheeran held a concert in London and the pictures and videos from there are making netizens lose it. The Indian sensation took to his Instagram and shared a few glimpses from last night featuring glitters, grandeur, and the world’s heartthrob Ed.

Arijit shared a carousel that had his snaps with Sheeran, followed by his solo shots and some drone captures of the venue and audiences. Singh captioned his post, “#london, thank you for showing up in such a magnificent way last night. Love & Gratitude. Thank you @teddysphotos for the #perfect moment.”

Soon after Arijit Singh dropped these unexpected moments of joy, several fans took to the comment section and shared their thoughts. One user wrote, “Best Collabs For Us. Now We Can Die Peacefully (red heart emoji).” Another added, “Ed Sheeran achieved a new feat (fire and heart emoji).” The third commented, “OMG this is my 2 kings in one frame. can’t believe Arijit & Ed collab.”

For the unversed, Arijit Singh recently became the world’s most-followed artist on Spotify followed by Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, and Ariana Grande. The singer is now a global sensation because of his soulful rendition and a voice that captures all emotions in its purest form. While Singh’s songs since his debut were appreciated enough, his stardom boosted massively after singing in the 2013 film Aashiqui 2.

Earlier this year in March, Ed Sheeran was in India for his +-=/x Tour (Mathematics) where he not only met several Bollywood A-listers but also appeared on a few TV shows and influencers’ videos. While speaking to India Today back then, the Shape of You singer had praised movies like SS Rajamouli’s RRR and admitted that he really feels loved in India.

“I have played in certain countries where people have a subdued reaction, but here, in India, it’s a vibrant country. People are so excited! I have the same personality, so I like that. Indians grew up learning so many dance moves while we just learned Macarena,” Ed Sheeran expressed.

Box Office: The Buckingham Murders stays low in opening weekend; Veer Zaara gets an audience even in 2024

The Kareena Kapoor Khan-led The Buckingham Murders recorded low collections in its opening weekend as according to early estimates, the Hansal Mehta directorial scored a little above Rs 5 crore in the three-day run. The film is more of an English film with a star like Kareena Kapoor Khan, which has led to some sort of sampling in the urban centres, especially the premium properties of PVRInox and Cinepolis.

The business is however not good enough for a theatrical film, but it’s the genre and the treatment which makes The Buckingham Murders more of a film for OTT. The eyes are now on the make-or-break Monday test, as if the film manages to hold at a number similar to the opening day, it could have some sort of run over the next 10 days, and aim to top the Rs 20 crore mark, with National Cinema Day on it’s 2nd Friday.

The Buckingham Murders is a rather safe film on paper with large chunk of revenue coming in from the sale of satellite and digital rights, as also subsidy from the UK Government, but well, a film needs to put up box-office numbers too to emerge a success story.

Here’s a look at day-wise box office collections of The Buckingham Murders

Friday: Rs 1.20 crore

Saturday: Rs 1.90 crore

Sunday: Rs 2.10 crore

Total: Rs 5.20 crore

The Yash Chopra-directed Veer Zaara with Shah Rukh Khan, Preity Zinta, and Rani Mukerji in lead has gotten some patronage from the audience even in 2024. Released on just 250 shows on Friday, the cinema owners increased the showcasing to 400 shows by Sunday owing to demand from the cinema-going audience. The film has scored a better opening weekend than most of the re-released films, with the exception of Tummbad, and is expected to record a 2-week run and also reap benefit of the National Cinema Day on Friday.

The Shah Rukh Khan and Preity Zinta-led love story has collected Rs 90 lakh in its opening weekend, and the aim for this YRF production will be to collect Rs 3 crore or more in the rerun, and top the Rs 100 crore mark at the global box office. For those unaware, Veer Zaara had earned Rs 97.50 crore globally upon its release in 2004.

Here’s a look at day-wise box office collections of Veer Zaara

Friday: Rs 20 lakh

Saturday: Rs 30 lakh

Sunday: Rs 40 lakh

Total: Rs 90 lakh

Who Will Replace Arvind Kejriwal As Delhi Chief Minister? The Faces In Focus

With Arvind Kejriwal announcing that he will resign as Delhi Chief Minister soon and return to office only after the people’s verdict on the allegations of corruption against him, the big question is who in the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will get the top job.

Assembly polls in Delhi are due in February next year, even though Mr Kejriwal yesterday demanded that the election be held in November along with the Maharashtra polls. Former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, too, has said he will go to the people and return to the top office only after re-election. This effectively means that the top leaders of AAP are not in the race for the Chief Minister’s post.

Even though this Chief Ministerial stint will only be for a few months, the AAP leadership would be looking to choose a prominent leader who can articulate the party’s position on key issues and has wide acceptability among the party ranks.

Here are five leaders who can make the cut

Atishi: Delhi Minister Atishi, holding key portfolios such as education and PWD, is one of the key contenders. An Oxford University alumnus and a Rhodes scholar, Ms Atishi has worked extensively in the AAP’s flagship exercise to overhaul education in Delhi’s schools. An MLA from Kalkaji, the 43-year-old became a minister after Mr Sisodia was arrested in a corruption case linked to Delhi’s now-scrapped liquor policy. When Mr Kejriwal and Mr Sisodia were behind bars, Atishi articulated the party’s position. On August 15, Mr Kejriwal chose her to hoist the tricolour at Delhi government’s Independence Day event. While Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena foiled the plan, it was clear that the AAP leadership places a lot of faith in Ms Atishi.

Saurabh Bharadwaj: Mr Bharadwaj is a three-time MLA from Greater Kailash and holds portfolios such as vigilance and health in the Arvind Kejriwal government. He, too, was named a minister after Mr Sisodia’s arrest in the liquor policy case. Mr Bharadwaj, who has worked as a software engineer in the past, was also a minister in Arvind Kejriwal’s 49-day government. He is also a national spokesperson of the AAP and was articulating the party’s position when its top leaders were in jail after being arrested by central agencies in corruption cases.

Raghav Chadha: A member of the AAP’s national executive and political affairs committee, Mr Chadha is a Rajya Sabha MP from the party and one of its top faces. Mr Chadha has earlier worked as a chartered accountant and has been in the AAP since its inception. He has been an MLA from Rajinder Nagar and played a key role in the AAP’s thumping victory in Punjab in the 2022 state polls. The 35-year-old is among the most prominent young politicians in the country and is known for articulating AAP’s position on key issues in Parliament.

Kailash Gahlot: A lawyer by profession, Mr Gahlot is among the senior members of the AAP government in Delhi and holds key portfolios such as transport, finance and home affairs. The 50-year-old leader is MLA from Delhi’s Najafgarh constituency since 2015. An advocate who has practised in both Delhi High Court and Supreme Court, he has served as a member executive in the high court bar association between 2005 and 2007.

Sanjay Singh: A Rajya Sabha MP since 2018, Sanjay Singh is one of the AAP’s most prominent faces known for his spirited speeches in Parliament. The 52-year-old leader is among the founder members of the party and is a member of its national executive and political affairs committee. He is also a regular in the party’s media interactions to articulate its position on key issues. Sanjay Singh was also arrested in connection to a corruption case linked to the Delhi liquor policy case and is currently out on bail, like Mr Kejriwal and Mr Sisodia.
