Rebel Wilson has taken up the role of director for the first time in the musical drama, The Deb. Ahead of her film premiering at the Toronto Film Festival, Wilson opened up about her experience of taking the space behind camera to the People Magazine. As for her inspiration for The Deb, Wilson revealed that she made a blend of all the teen movies she had loved over the years. 

In conversation with the media portal, the actress claimed, “Basically, it could only have been a musical, I think, because the amount of work and passion and love you have to put in, I think for me it could only be a musical.” She further revealed her love for the genre and how she took the teen productions into account for the inspiration. 

The Pitch Perfect alum revealed, “It’s a bit of a long story.” She went on to add, “But our dogs were the stars of my family and our dog had auditioned for a musical called 42nd Street, and the dog went to the call-backs and was supposed to run over to the actress on command.”

During a new interview with Aleena Dissects podcast, renowned paparazzo Manav Manglani spilled the beans about the time when Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt showed their baby daughter Raha’s face. Manav revealed that his video featuring Ranbir and Alia’s daughter’s cute face hit 1 million views in six minutes on social media.

“I was like, ‘What the f**k. It crossed 10 million in 24 hours. We thought only Ranbir and Alia would pose,” Manav said. The paparazzo also revealed how the media was instructed before the couple showed Raha’s face to them. “Ranbir gestured at us from afar, and said, ‘Ruk jao, aaram se khade raho, let me get her out, don’t shout’,” Manav added.

For the uninitiated, Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt kept Raha’s face hidden for around a year. The couple did her face reveal at the annual Christmas lunch with the Kapoor family on December 25, 2023.

Ranbir and Alia posed for paparazzi during the festival. While Ranbir carried Raha in his arms, Alia stood close to them. Raha looked oh-so-cute in a white and pink dress and also sported red velvet shoes. Alia opted for a black and red floral dress and Ranbir wore a black jacket with jeans on the day.

Kareena Kapoor Khan starrer The Buckingham Murders registered a slight jump on its second day, although it remained underwhelming. The Hansal Mehta-directed murder mystery could only collect Rs 1.55 crore on its first Saturday after a dull opening of Rs 1.10 crore at the Indian box office.

The Buckingham Murders is released on limited screens in two audio formats- Hindi and Hinglish, considering its niche audience in urban-centric areas. However, the response has not been upto the expectations. The movie could only record a slight jump of 40% on its second day and took its total box office collection for two days to Rs 2.65 crore domestically. 

It is likely to collect around Rs 4.50 crore in its first weekend, which is not a good report for a Kareena Kapoor-starrer film. The new weekend release should have trended better than the re-release movie, Tumbbad but the case is otherwise. The other major competitor for the Hansal Mehta movie is Stree 2, which is still the #1 choice among the moviegoers. 

The favourable word of mouth and positive audience response can only boost its business from hereon. Although the movie did not have much to do at the box office, such passion projects got sanctioned solely on the love for the craft. We can only hope for a decent non-theatrical deal which could recover its cost of production.
