CID actor Dinesh Phadnis passes away at age 57

Dinesh Phadnis, renowned for his portrayal of Fredericks in the iconic television series CID, passed away at 57. Dayanand Shetty, his co-actor known for playing Daya on CID, confirmed his demise, mentioning that Dinesh breathed his last at 12:08 am while undergoing treatment at Mumbai’s Tunga Hospital.

Dayanand Shetty shared that Dinesh succumbed to multiple organ failure, revealed that there were complications, and he was taken off the ventilator last night. The actor’s funeral is scheduled for 10:30 am in Mumbai.
Initially reported as a cardiac arrest on Sunday, it was later clarified by Shetty that Dinesh’s condition was due to liver damage, not cardiac arrest.

Dinesh Phadnis gained immense popularity for his role as Fredericks in CID, a show that aired from 1998 for two decades on TV. He also made appearances on the widely-loved sitcom Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah and played supporting roles in movies like Super 30 and Sarfarosh.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Samajwadi Party boss Akhilesh Yadav will both skip Wednesday’s INDIA bloc meeting, sources told NDTV this morning. Mr Kumar and Mr Yadav become the second and third high-profile leader to skip the meet called by the Congress.

On Monday Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said she would not attend; the fiery Trinamool leader, who has a tense relationship with the Congress said she was “not aware” of the meeting.
