Actor Mohanlal addressed the crisis in the Malayalam film industry and defended the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (Amma) amid harassment allegations following the Hema Committee report. He emphasized that the entire industry should be accountable and called for collective efforts to rebuild. He also clarified his stance and announced his resignation as Amma’s president.

Sitaram Yechury was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on August 19 for treatment of a pneumonia-like chest infection.
