‘I fought It And I Won’: The Time When Salma Hayek Was Almost Convinced That She Would Not Make It To Hollywood But Proved Her Worth

Salma Hayek got to become one of the most appreciated actresses in Hollywood through an exemplary show of resilience and resolve. Her presence on screen would move audiences and draw them into the stories she had to tell through powerful performances. She had leads worth remembering in films like Frida, Desperado, Eternals, and Quentin Tarantino’s From Dusk Till Dawn. It is almost impossible to imagine these movies without her spellbinding aura. But Salma Hayek’s path to superstardom was not without its stumbling blocks that almost had her throw in the towel on becoming a successful performer, although her full talent couldn’t be taken away from her.

From the very beginning of her career, Hayek was met with skepticism and doubt. In a competitive world such as Hollywood, these usually dissuade budding wannabe actors with the odds against them. In Hayek’s case, these were compounded by her age and ethnicity. During that period, she approached her thirtieth birthday and was still trying to make a name for herself. All too frequently, people told her that her career never would bloom. She was informed, casting directors would be leery of giving her leading roles, while her Mexican ancestry placed an obstacle in the way of success in an industry that wasn’t known for its diversity at the time.

“They told me my career would die mid-30s,” Hayek said in an interview with Yahoo, remembering some of the harsh words spoken against her with much anger. First, it was said that a Mexican will never make it because, in those times-the new generations, it was impossible for a Mexican to perform a leading role in Hollywood. Such comments, meant to belittle her ambitions, might even lead her to give up on acting.

The stress was immense. After all, many an ambitious actor would eventually give up on the idea, consoling themselves that their dream would never come true, upon hearing voice after voice cut them down, telling them that they would never make it past the obstacles ahead. Even the temptation to be so negative persuades Hayek. She, after all, had been hypnotized by everyone telling her that being a supporting role for the rest of her life was the best she could hope for. Instead, she decided to fight these doubts rather than letting them undermine their goals.

“I was told so many times it couldn’t happen, and I almost believed them, but I fought it and I won,” Hayek said. Her words mean a lot not only because they are testimony to her own success but also a stimulant for those who face comparable difficulties.

Hayek’s case is one strong reminder that success has come from beating expectations apart and holding out against adversity. Her perseverance in breaking through all barriers put before her serves as a shining beacon of light on everything for which the people who feel somehow left out or underestimated have hope. “I want other women to know that, even in your thirties, you feel the pressure; in your forties, you feel the pressure-and late blooming, it is a beautiful thing,” she said, focusing much on how vital it is that at no age should one quit.

Salma Hayek’s road to stardom is an absolutely personal success story, but also one of Hollywood taboo and inspiration to people in the pursuance of their dreams, no matter how weird they may appear. Her story says a lot about the importance of perseverance, faith in oneself, and pursuing dreams.

This is when the veteran screenwriter revealed, “Last time when I was in Mumbai, we met Hrithik (Roshan). He was phenomenal. So the door would be open if the right role came along…. Opportunities are there…”

Well, we cannot wait to witness if this can materialize in the future seasons of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. Who wouldn’t want to see our homegrown Greek God in TLOR? What do you think of this – tell us @pinkvilla.

Scotty McCreery Halts Concert After Seeing Man Allegedly Hit Woman In The Audience: ‘Get The Heck Out Of Here’

Scotty McCreery is a real stand-up guy who ensures that no one misbehaves at his concerts and gives others a hard time! The singer recently paused his concert as part of the Fall of Summer Tour to address an incident involving a concertgoer.

The former American Idol winner stopped singing when he saw a man allegedly assault a woman in the audience at the Colorado State Fair in Pueblo, Colo., on August 24, 2024.

“Right here, that’s a lady you just hit, sir,” McCreery said in the video, pointing to someone in the audience. “Absolutely not, you just hit the lady. Police? Security? Is she okay? Get the heck out of here,” he added, as the crowd cheered at his bold gesture.

Concertgoer Jessica Rosario posted a video that showed McCreery grooving with the audience while singing the track It Matters To Her while talking about his wife’s favorite lines of the track when he noticed the man getting abusive, after which he immediately called in the bouncers and security to get him removed.

“On God’s green earth. At a Scotty McCreery show? What are you doing?” he said shortly after he called out the alleged attacker. “Y’all let the cop know who hit the lady. That’s absolutely unacceptable.” he sternly added.

Later he also said that whoever the man was, hitting a female was a complete act as a coward.  He then checked in with the crowd before he resumed his set.

The man and woman’s identities have not been publicly revealed, nor if the man was arrested, as reported by PEOPLE. Olga Robak, director of communications with The Colorado Department of Agriculture further confirmed the incident to the outlet and said that the absurd incident is still under investigation.

The singer rose to fame after winning the tenth season of American Idol in May 2011 after he beat out Lauren Alaina in the season finale, having previously lasted longer in the competition than such performers as Pia Toscano, Haley Reinhart, and Casey Abrams.

His debut studio album, Clear as Day, was released in October 2011 and was certified platinum in the United States.
