‘One Of My Favorite Action Films’: DC Studios Head James Gunn Names The Best Third Installment of A Trilogy

James Gunn is the Studio head of one of the most beloved superhero franchises. There have been many trilogies with epic third installments in the DC Universe that can be considered the best ever. When Gunn was asked about his favorite trilogy with the best final installment, his answer was quite surprising.

After a fan revealed that Guardians Vol. 3 was “close to being the best out of the three,” another fan asked Gunn the same question on threads. He mentioned several good ones before revealing his personal favorite.

“The Good, the Bad and the Ugly is usually considered the best, although not a straight trilogy and For a Few Dollars, my fave of the three, is underrated,” he said. Gunn also mentioned Logan, Thor Ragnarok and Return of the King in his reply before naming his personal best. “The one I like the best for sure is Bourne Ultimatum, one of my favorite action films ever,” he added.

The 2007 film The Bourne Ultimatum was the third installment in the Bourne franchise following Matt Damon’s Jason Bourne, who can go to any extent to uncover the origins of his life as a trained killer while dodging the CIA agents who are trying to kill him.

Although The Bourne Ultimatum was meant to be the final chapter of the trilogy, the franchise was reprised with 2012’s The Bourne Legacy, in which Jeremy Renner’s Aaron Cross became the new lead. However, it opened to mixed reviews and earned a disappointing $276 million worldwide despite having a $125 million budget.

The next installment was 2016’s Jason Bourne, in which Damon reprised his role with original director Paul Greengrass on board. It again mixed reviews but managed to collect over $400 million worldwide.

As for Gunn, he is currently working on post-production in DC’s first feature-length installment, Superman. The highly anticipated superhero reboot could be the start of another superhero trilogy. David Corenswet is all set to play the legendary superhero alongside Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane and House of the Dragon’s Milly Alcock as Supergirl.

Although the plot details are shrouded in secrecy, Gunn shared that it will focus on Superman trying to reconcile his Kryptonian roots with his human upbringing. It will also retell the Man of Steel’s origin story.

“Paid Heavy Price For MeToo Allegations”: Singer Chinmayi Sripaada To NDTV

Celebrated singer Chinmayi Sripaada, a key face of the “MeToo” movement in India, has expressed hope that the Hema Committee Report’s exposure of the dark underbelly of Kerala’s film industry will encourage more women survivors of sexual violence to come forward and report it. “Siddique and Ranjith, who have resigned, are not the only two in the Kerala film industry facing allegations of sexual offences,” she told NDTV in an exclusive interview.

The Justice Hema Committee report — providing sordid details of sexual abuse, systemic harassment, and a “criminal nexus” within Mollywood — has opened a Pandora’s box of more complaints against senior artistes and directors.

Shortly after its contents were made public, director Ranjith Balakrishnan and actor Siddique, resigned from their positions in the Kerala Chalachitra Academy and Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA), amid allegations of misconduct.

On Monday, a junior artiste in the Malayalam film industry accused award-winning actor and director Baburaj of rape. Baburaj, who is the Joint Secretary of the Association of Malayalam Movie Actors, or AMMA, has denied any wrongdoing.

Chinmayi highlighted the difficulties survivors face in seeking justice, including loss of livelihood and challenges in proving sexual offences.

She underscored the need for a swift and sensitive justice system, citing her own experience of being banned from dubbing and facing a badly hit singing career after levelling molestation allegations against lyricist Vairamuthu and actor Radha Ravi.

The system, she said, makes it difficult for survivors to file police complaints, sharing her own experience of being molested several years ago and the taboo surrounding police stations at the time and the long period of trial.

She praised the actors in Kerala who have spoken out against sexual abuse and expressed her desire for other people in industries to follow suit.

Asked about women in many cases not coming forward to file police complaints, she said, “Most of it is circumstantial evidence. Even bruises get healed in a few days”.

“We need a swift sensitive legal system from the very beginning. We can’t be carrying bodycam all the time. Violations like molestation happen in a jiffy,” she said.

The ICC system was brought in to make the system faster but hasn’t worked, she said, underscoring that they “expected a lot from the National Commission for Women”.

The political class and the film industry, she said, continue to associate with those facing “MeToo” allegations. “Politicians support men facing sexual harassment allegations because they are vote banks,” she added.

Industry Season 3 Episode 3 Recap: Yasmin Manipulates Sir Henry Muck To Secure Her Own Financial Future

Spoiler Alert: The following contains major spoilers for Industry Season 3, Episode 3

In the latest episode of Industry, we see various characters struggling with their personal issues and professional setbacks during a trip to Switzerland for the COP climate conference.

The episode starts with a tense call where Muck defends his actions while Eric Tao, leading the discussion, tries to handle the fallout from Lumi’s failure. Eric gets a message from senior manager Wilhelmina Fassbinder, who offers him what seems like a new opportunity, but it turns out to be a way for the company to offload responsibility onto him. After Lumi’s poor IPO performance, other companies considering deals with Pierpoint are nervous, fearing they’ll be treated the same way.

Bill Adler, a key figure in Lumi’s launch, is on personal leave, which is corporate speak for being suspended. Eric is now tasked with managing Pierpoint’s reputation and is sent to the climate conference in Switzerland to oversee Lumi’s public session. Yasmin, who was originally set to accompany him, is joined by Robert Spearing, who has insights into Lumi’s troubles.

Meanwhile, Harper Stern, who was fired from Pierpoint, is working at FutureDawn. Petra Koenig, a senior manager at FutureDawn, has clashed with her boss, Anna Gearing, and is now plotting to start her own investment firm. Petra and Harper head to Switzerland to target investors at the conference and lure them away from Anna’s future deals.

Petra and Harper try to make their mark by launching a new fund, Leviathan, and attempting to steal investors from Anna. They struggle initially but eventually gain traction, especially when Harper impresses Otto Mostyn with their pitch and secures support for the fund.

Harper seizes the chance to exact revenge on Eric by causing a scene at the Lumi panel discussion. She publicly criticizes Lumi’s failing stock and reveals insider information, which attracts the attention of influential investor Peter Fergusson. This leads to Petra and Harper getting support for their new fund, Leviathan.

Meanwhile, Eric’s attempts to salvage his career fail miserably, leading him to a humiliating encounter with Petra and Harper. Muck’s personal and professional life also crumbles as Yasmin persuades Muck to leave Lumi, which could help her deal with her own financial issues. She also uses her connections to help Harper, further complicating the dynamics between her, Eric, and the new competitors.
