Huma Qureshi is known for her candid takes on films, the industry and beyond. In a recent episode of In the Ring with Filmfare, the Maharani actress engaged in an insightful conversation with Filmfare’s Editor-in-Chief Jitesh Pillai.
On the subject of plastic surgery and the pressures actors face, Huma shared “I have not got anything done yet. But age is a cruel thing so I don’t know when I’m 45 or 50 how I’ll feel about my looks.”
“Ageism exists even for men. Men also go under the knife we just don’t talk about how much they do it. They’re told, ‘arre wah aap toh ab tak waise hi lagte ho.’ Nahi, unke surgery ke baare mein batao na,” she added.
She further opened up about body image and ageism saying, “Camera tends to make you a little self-conscious and self-aware. In the last 10 to 12 years, I’ve grown up in front of the camera and in front of people, there’s a relationship you have with viewers. Every wrinkle and grey hair is talked about. Every pound you’ve gained or lost is talked about. It’s a very different kind of pressure. Imagine in your most intimate moment also you feel like someone is watching. So I don’t know, ageism is very real more so for women.”
