Stree 2 actor Abhishek Banerjee recorded Amitabh Bachchan’s entry on Section 84 sets; says, ‘I didn’t want to forget it’

Actor Abhishek Banerjee, who is basking in the success of Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor-starrer Stree 2, has become a household name in recent years. In Stree 2, Abhishek reprised his role from Stree, the original film released in 2018. Now, the actor has an upcoming film, Section 84, with megastar Amitabh Bachchan. Abhishek recently revealed that he went star-stuck after witnessing Big B’s entry to the sets, so much so that the Stree 2 actor recorded the megastar as he didn’t want to forget the moment.

In a new interview with PTI, Abhishek Banerjee shared his experience of working with Amitabh Bachchan in Ribhu Das Gupta’s directorial, Section 84.

Recalling Bachchan’s entry moment, Abhishek shared, “I recorded it because I didn’t want to forget it ever.” The Vedaa actor expressed that Big B’s walk took him to the “nostalgic era” of his prime years.

Abhishek added that the megastar’s dialogues and action scenes “flashed” in front of his eyes while witnessing the moment in real life. He called the 81-year-old megastar an “institution” with whom every actor wants to work in their lives.

The Paatal Lok actor, who has had two hit movies, Stree 2 and Vedaa, last week shared that Section 84 was the quickest film he agreed to do.

Abhishek remembered that he said ‘yes’ after hearing that he was bagging a film with Amitabh Bachchan. The Stree 2 actor added that he didn’t “hear the next two lines.” While the makers asked him to listen to the storyline, he felt it was not needed.

Abhishek Banerjee further shared that director Ribhu imagined him as a character who is “almost like Bachchan” in front of Mr. Bachchan. It was a “huge deal” for him, he added.

In 2023, Abhishek Banerjee took to X to share the script of Section 84 and penned his feelings about collaborating with Amitabh Bachchan. He shared that he was “grateful” to work with the “legend” Big B. The Stree actor also thanked the director for giving him an opportunity to “turn his dream into reality”.

Stree 2 and Vedaa were released on the same date, August 15 (Independence Day) this year.

Angry Young Men Review: The docu-series on superstar screenwriting duo Salim-Javed is raw, honest, personal and like their movies, a BLOCKBUSTER

Plot:

Angry Young Men is the documentary on screenwriting duo Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar. Directed by Namrata Rao, this documentary takes you to the mid and late 1900s when the two screenwriters were the most demanded film brands in the country. In the 3 episodes, it is shown how the duo got together to write some of the most iconic films and how and why they separated. The feature is brutal, honest and very heartfelt.

What Works For Angry Young Men:

Angry Young Men is brutal, honest, real and personal. It is a sneak into the life of India’s only superstar screenwriting duo, Salim-Javed. Everything from their modest beginnings to them breaching unfathomable heights is shown very beautifully. Both Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar are great storytellers. You feel like you are transported to the time when they were ruling the industry and were the most demanded film brands, just by their talks. The best thing about the documentary is that it isn’t afraid to go to darker places. In the docu-series, it is clearly shown, when the duo was not honest about their work and how it costed them. Also, the reason behind their split is explained in a very sofisticated way.

What Doesn’t Work For Angry Young Men:

There’s nothing that doesn’t work for the Angry Young Men. It is a documentary that every film enthusiast must watch, without fail.

Finances Of Kolkata Hospital During Ex-Principal’s Tenure Under Scanner

The financial transactions at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College during the tenure of former Principal Sandip Ghosh will now be looked into following allegations of irregularities. An order from the West Bengal government said a Special Investigation Team has been formed to conduct the probe the alleged financial irregularities, and will submit a report within a month.

Sandip Ghosh, facing massive criticism over the rape-murder of a doctor in the hospital premises, is now being questioned by the CBI.

A note from the government’s Home and Hill Affairs Department Internal Security Branch, said the SIT, headed by Inspector General of Police Dr Pranav Kumar, will have the “liberty to access any relevant document from government departments and private agencies required for expeditious completion of the inquiry”.

The team will look into the alleged financial irregularities in the period between January 2021 till date.

“The SIT will submit its first report to the State Government within a month from the date of its constitution,” the order read.

The move came amid massive criticism over its transfer of the principal within hours of his resignation to the city’s top medical college — the National Medical College and Hospital.  The Opposition, civil society and the Calcutta High Court had heaped criticism on the state government over it.

Questioning how can a Principal, who has failed in his duty to protect his students, be rewarded, the judges said, “Even assuming the resignation was not accepted, the least that can be expected from a responsible higher official of the concerned department is to immediately relieve the Principal from his duties and not assign him any other duty of equal responsibility”.

The court has sent Ghosh on a long leave.

The move to transfer Ghosh had put Mamata Banerjee’s government on the backfoot, with women — staunch supporters of the Chief Minister — being up in arms over the rape-murder and the police handling of the case.

Stung by adverse comments on social media, Ghosh had stepped down not just from the post, but also government service. A government order four hours later announced his transfer to the National Medical College.

He is now being questioned by the Central Bureau of Investigation, which has taken over the probe into the rape-murder that has sparked massive protests across the country.

The agency, sources said, has asked him multiple questions, including ones on hospital security and his resignation. He has also been asked why there was a hurry to declare the death a suicide, the contamination of the crime scene, and the sudden renovation of rooms near the seminar hall where the doctor’s body was found.

Officials hinted that the former principal is yet to give satisfactory answers to these questions.

The CBI is also examining his call records and chat, and has asked him to provide details of his phone calls before and after the August 9 incident.
