Nayanthara’s Annapoorani is back on OTT after controversy, but there’s a twist

Nayanthara’s film, Annapoorani, which was released in 2023, encountered significant criticism from audiences following its debut on Netflix on December 29, 2023. The film sparked controversy due to some scenes that were perceived as offensive to religious beliefs, leading to its removal from the streaming service. However, recent updates indicate that it is set to return to OTT platforms soon.

According to some latest buzz, Annapoorani will be made available on OTT again, but this time it will not be released on Netflix, but on Simply South. The tentative date of its release is fixed as August 9, 2024.

In a recent post on X by the streaming platform, Simply South confirmed the release of Annapoorani again. However, despite its return, there is no confirmation whether the film would not be available for viewing in India and as such, there has been no update on the same as well.

For the unversed, issues regarding certain scenes of Annapoorani surmounted when an FIR was lodged against the makers of the movie by Ramesh Solanki, the founder of the Hindu IT cell. He claimed that particular scenes in the film provoked and offended the Hindu religious sentiments. He further requested for legal action against the actors as well.

Apart from her recognition as the lady superstar in South Cinema, Nayanthara also wins hearts with her social media presence. A few days back, the diva dropped a glimpse of her all-time favorite and classic film, Maine Pyaar Kia, starring Salman Khan and Bhagyashree.

In her personal life, Nayanthara is married to filmmaker Vignesh Shivan, and the couple are parents to their twin sons, Uyir and Ulag. The doting parents often drop happy glimpses from their life on social media.

Coming to her work front, Nayanthara has a plethora of films on cards, including Test, Mannangati Since 1960, Dear Students, Good Bad Ugly, Toxic and others.

Jessica Simpson Reacts to Rumors That She Has Started Drinking Alcohol Again After Being Sober for Over 6 Years

Jessica Simpson gave a fitting reply and shut down rumors that she’s drinking alcohol again. On August 5, the singer posted a photo on Instagram celebrating her son Ace’s 11th birthday. She received an unrelated comment from a follower who told her to “STOP DRINKING!”

The singer responded quickly, dismissing the claim: “I haven’t wanted or touched alcohol since October 2017, and it has been the best decision I’ve made for myself and for my family,” she wrote. “Thank you for your concern, but you have me very misunderstood. Sending love your way,” she added. Following her response, the Instagram user immediately apologized for the unfounded assumption.

Simpson has been sober since October 2017 after a brief struggle with substance use. In addition to son Ace, Simpson is mom to daughters Maxwell, 12, and Birdie, 5, whom she shares with her husband Eric Johnson.

The singer has been transparent and authentic about her struggle with embracing sobriety. In 2021, she celebrated her progress by sharing a heartfelt post on Instagram, describing how she felt the day she decided to begin her sobriety journey. She referred to herself as an unrecognizable version and admitted she needed serious self-discovery.

She noted, “There is so much stigma around the word ‘alcoholism’ or the label of an ‘alcoholic,'” and realized that her true work was to accept failure, pain, brokenness, and self-sabotage.

Simpson now feels free from negative feelings and admitted that the issue wasn’t the alcohol but within herself. She lacked self-love and respect. However, she has made peace with the unpleasant parts of her past and is now honest and candid, with courage in her soul and power in her mind.

In January 2020, Simpson opened up to PEOPLE about her journey in a cover story interview surrounding her memoir titled Open Book. She said that she knew she had reached rock bottom when on Halloween 2017 she was zoning out and was unable to dress her kids for the event.

“I was terrified of letting them see me in that shape,” Simpson wrote in her book. “I am ashamed to say that I don’t know who got them into their costumes that night.”

The next day she told her close group of friends who came to visit her that something did not feel right and if it was the alcohol that was causing all the issues, she needed to truly stop it.

She also added that “it was a long, hard emotional journey” — but “there’s just no better gift.”

Timothee Chalamet’s Bob Dylan Biopic: A Complete Unknown To Hit Screens On Christmas Day? Here’s What Report Says

Searchlight Pictures has set Christmas Day as the date for its long-awaited biopic about the legendary singer Bob Dylan, titled A Complete Unknown. In the title role is Timothée Chalamet, with a huge ensemble cast that includes Edward Norton as Pete Seeger, Elle Fanning as Sylvie Russo, Boyd Holbrook as Johnny Cash, Monica Barbaro as Joan Baez, and more.

The movie does appear as if it will transport viewers to the vibrant New York City of the 1960s. Important locations have been used in the movie so as to be at par with the era, including Hotel Chelsea and Cafe Wha?. The transition of Bob Dylan from a 20-year-old coming from Minnesota to be the greatest voice of his generation will be captivating. With Chalamet, who proved his singing skills in Wonka, doing his own singing in this film, audiences are already getting a feel for it from the early trailers and images. He’s taken on Dylan’s persona, working up a rather striking transformation for the film.

The biopic traces Dylan’s early days in Greenwich Village, having traveled there at 19 years old with grand ideas of revolutionizing the music scene. The chord he struck first among the folk circles to his fateful decision to tune in to rock n’ roll speaks of his indelible legacy in music. The movie promises time and again to portray the indispensable and mythic events of Dylan’s life, from his early performances in folk clubs to his climaxing entry at the Newport Folk Festival.

James Mangold wrote the screenplay with Jay Cocks and explained why he wanted to realize a screen version of Dylan’s life. “It’s such an amazing time in American culture, and the story of a young, 19-year-old Bob Dylan coming to New York with, like, $2 in his pocket and becoming a worldwide sensation within three years — first being embraced into the family of folk music in New York and then, of course, kind of outrunning them at a certain point as his star rises so beyond belief,” Mangold explained to The Hollywood Reporter.

Executive producers on the picture are Bob Bookman, Alan Gasmer, Jeff Rosen, Timothee Chalamet, and James Mangold. A Complete Unknown is shaping up to be a cinematic event and in a newly released trailer, audiences get Chalamet singing Dylan’s iconic “A Hard Rain’s A-Gonna Fall” that plays in his immersive performance.

As the time inches closer to Christmas Day a couple of months from now, so does the anticipation for the premiere of A Complete Unknown. With a gripping storyline, an excellent cast, and directed with vision by James Mangold, the film turns into one of the best highlights of this holiday season.
