Chrissy Teigen Praises Nick Jonas For His Kindness Toward Son Miles, 6, Following His Type 1 Diabetes Diagnosis

Chrissy Teigen’s son Miles is receiving a lot of support and encouragement ever since the author, model, and mom of four revealed his oldest son’s Type 1 diabetes diagnosis on Instagram. Among the supporters is one well-known name, Nick Jonas. The pop star, who is 1/3 of the Jonas Brothers band, also suffers from the same autoimmune medical condition as Miles, 6.

On Wednesday, July 31, after Teigen shared her son’s diagnosis on Instagram, a user commented in support of the young kid, noting that his two brothers have Type 1 and so does Nick Jonas. Referencing Teigen directly, the individual said, “Your son should go meet bad a** people and see he’s not alone and can still accomplish anything. It’s scary but it becomes second nature, and you guys will rock it.”

To the well-wisher, Teigen informed that her son had already met Nick Jonas and he “was so kind to him.” The Cravings cookbook author added, “We were so lucky to run into him.”

Jonas, for the unversed, has been invariably vocal about living with Type 1 diabetes for the larger part of his life. In a video shared last November, the Leave Before You Love Me singer detailed how his family saved his life by noticing signs of his Type 1 diabetes early on.

The singer-songwriter also shared his experience of living with the condition for several years with People in 2021, saying it took him a while to figure out certain things initially but now, after so many years, he has a fairly good grip on it. Jonas, at the time, however, admitted to the publication that he wished he had someone to look up to when he was diagnosed at such a young age. He added that he now aspires to be that role model for young people living with the condition.

Fans began speculating about Miles’ diagnosis after Teigen shared a picture of herself with her son and daughter Luna attending the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. As Miles held up a sign for USA gymnast Simone Biles in a short-sleeved shirt in the said picture, the glucose monitor on his upper arm caught the attention of netizens.

On Wednesday, July 31, Teigen thanked her fans and followers for sending positive messages her way amid her son’s diagnosis. She, who also shares son Wren Alexander, 13 months, and daughter Esti Maxine, 18 months, with husband John Legend, noted that the parents have been relying on a book called Year One with Type One to help Miles with his diagnosis.

Laapataa Ladies fame Pratibha Ranta recalls getting ‘big’ compliment from Aamir Khan; ‘You can easily mold yourself…’

Pratibha Ranta has won people’s hearts with her captivating performance in Kiran Rao’s Laapataa Ladies and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. Once a TV star, the actress made her big screen debut with Kiran’s directorial. In a new interview, Pratibha revealed the big compliment she received from Aamir Khan and it will stay in her heart forever.

Aamir Khan produced Laapataa Ladies while Kiran Rao directed the movie. It stars Pratibha Ranta, Sparsh Shrivastava, and Nitanshi Goel in the lead roles. During a recent interview, Pratibha discussed her working experience with other co-stars and recalled a moment when Aamir called all three to have a conversation about the movie.

Ranta said that they were shooting in Bhopal and Aamir called Sparsh, Nitanshi, and Pratibha to meet him. Ranta quoted Aamir saying, ‘Come, I want to talk to you all.’ He was praising us that we did a good job. Then, he came to me and said ‘You have a different face. We can put you in anything and you can easily mold yourself in that.’ I think that was a very big compliment for me.”

During an interaction with Indian Express, Ranta also talked about bagging the role of Laapataa Ladies within a month after her live audition with Aamir Khan. The actress said that her ‘little audition scene’ was liked by everyone, and she was eventually finalized for the role.

“I think within a month, everything was locked. And I was like, ‘Okay, what has just happened? Okay, please tell me.’ It was very quick. For me, it was a very quick process. Then, after that, our dialogue training workshop took place. That took a month. After that, we went on floors. Then we shot for like 45 days. Yeah, we shot for 45-50 days. That’s how it happened,” the actress shared.

She also talked about her Laapataa Ladies role and added that she was able to relate to her character Jaya and gave spontaneous reactions.

Meanwhile, Pratibha Ranta was also seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi: The Diamon Bazaar. She played the role of Shama. Both Heeramandi and Laapataa Ladies are streaming on Netflix.

“We Haven’t Even Reached…”: Kerala Governor’s Grim Warning On Wayanad

The extent of devastation caused by landslides in Kerala’s Wayanad is not known yet, as rescue teams have not even reached the settlement first struck by the landslides, Governor Arif Mohammed Khan told NDTV as the death count in the calamity crossed the 200 mark.

The Governor said that the bodies recovered so far are mostly from a village that was devastated because the Chaliyar river changed its course. “The river changed its course because of the landslides and ravaged a village. These bodies have been recovered from that village. But we have not been able to reach the first village which has been ravaged by the landslide,” he said.

This village, the Governor said, has been cut off after a bridge leading to it was washed away. “The Army engineering unit is trying to build a Bailey bridge (a portable bridge) and this may be completed within a few hours,” he said, adding that it is not possible to properly assess the scale of damage till the bridge is built. “It is not possible because we have not been able to reach the first site affected by the landslide,” he said.

The Governor stressed that the village struck first by the landslide is “not a remote village”. “It is in a hilly area, but it is not remote. It is part of a town area. It is a 100-year-old settlement.”

Asked about Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s claim that the Centre had sent landslide alerts to Kerala days before the calamity struck, the Governor said, “Yesterday was not the time to take stock of these things. So I am not in a position to go into that issue. This is the time to share the grief of the people, to meet patients, their relatives.”

Mr Shah’s remark has sparked a political blame game, with Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan refuting the Home Minister’s remark and stressing that the Centre’s warning came hours after tragedy struck. The Governor refused to comment on this, but said, “If the Home Minister is saying warnings were issued, I have no reason to doubt it.”

The Governor said rescue and relief are in full swing. “Camps have been set up. Everybody is being taken there. And this includes not only those who have been affected. The river has changed its course, it may change further. So, all those who live on the banks of this new course have also been removed,” he said.

Mr Khan praised doctors of government and private hospitals in the area, who are working tirelessly to save those affected by the calamity. “And of course, our Army, Navy and Air Force personnel. They are taking risk and doing great work.”
