BTS Parent Company HYBE Brings Weverse Con Festival to India for The First Time

HYBE, the company behind K-pop supergroup BTS, is bringing its flagship global music festival, Weverse Con Festival, to India for the first time. The festival is scheduled to take place on March 27 and 28, 2027, in New Delhi, marking its first edition outside Korea.
The two-day festival will bring together Indian and K-pop artists, with live performances, fan activities, brand activations and other cultural experiences. The event will also feature special collaboration stages involving artists from India and Korea.
Weverse Con Festival has grown out of the fan communities built around Weverse, HYBE’s global superfan platform, which counts artists including BTS, SEVENTEEN, TOMORROW X TOGETHER, ENHYPEN, LE SSERAFIM, BOYNEXTDOOR, TWS and ILLIT among its communities. The India edition will bring that online fan culture into a live setting, with opportunities for fans to interact with artists and fellow fans.
Jason Jaesang Lee, CEO of HYBE, said, “Weverse Con Festival India marks a new chapter in our ‘multi-home, multi-genre’ strategy and reflects our commitment to India as a key market in HYBE’s global growth. By bringing HYBE’s global capabilities together with India’s creativity, we aim to create a festival that expands our ecosystem through experiences that resonate with local audiences. We look forward to bringing fans together to discover a new universe of music and unlock an immersive journey where they can connect, celebrate, and explore new possibilities alongside the artists they love.”
Zooil Yang, President of Weverse Company, said, “We are thrilled to join HYBE to deliver Weverse Con Festival India to one of the world’s most vibrant K-pop fan communities. As a global superfan platform, Weverse serves as the leading hub connecting artists and fans around the world. Through the festival, we are excited to extend our innovative services and fan experiences beyond the screen and into a live setting, seamlessly integrating the online and offline worlds of fandom.”

Weverse Con Festival India is co-produced and promoted by BookMyShow Live, the live entertainment experiences division of BookMyShow. The company, which has built K-pop into a growing live category in India, will bring the festival to the country, with tickets available exclusively on BookMyShow.
The first India edition of Weverse Con Festival will give fans the opportunity to experience some of the world’s most influential K-pop artists through immersive live performances, alongside artists from India’s diverse music scene. Bringing global and Indian music cultures together, the festival will offer a distinctive festival experience that celebrates artists, music, and fans, creating new connections across cultures.
HYBE’s India plans extend beyond the festival. HYBE INDIA, the company’s strategic global office in the country, has been conducting nationwide auditions to discover and develop local talent, produce content and expand intellectual property, with a focus on creating locally resonant, globally scalable content.

SS Rajamouli Creates New Fictional Language for Varanasi: Reports

SS Rajamouli is reportedly developing a fictional language for his ambitious project Varanasi, marking yet another attempt to expand the world-building possibilities of Indian cinema. If true, this would be the filmmaker’s second major experiment with an invented tongue after Baahubali, which introduced audiences to the artificial language Kiliki. Linguist and lyricist Madhan Karky, who collaborated with Rajamouli on that project, is said to be working with him once again to create a distinct vocabulary, grammar and linguistic identity for the film.

According to reports, the language is being designed for an ancient, isolated tribe that plays a key role in the story. The move is in line with Rajamouli’s emphasis on authenticity and immersive storytelling. Varanasi, which reportedly blends history, mythology and adventure, is expected to explore themes rooted in the sacred city while also travelling across different eras and geographies.

Examples from world cinema

Invented languages have often added depth to fictional worlds in global cinema. James Cameron commissioned linguists to create the Na’vi language for Avatar (2009), while Star Trek popularised Klingon among fans worldwide. Other notable examples include Heptapod B from Arrival (2016), and Dothraki and High Valyrian from Game of Thrones.

Rajamouli’s decision, if confirmed, would place Varanasi within that tradition of expansive world-building, where language itself becomes an important storytelling tool.

Rajamouli’s appetite for experimentation

Over the years, Rajamouli has consistently pushed creative boundaries. From the unconventional revenge drama of Eega to the epic scale of the Baahubali films and the elaborate action sequences of RRR, he has repeatedly explored ideas rarely attempted in mainstream Indian cinema. His films have also embraced cutting-edge visual effects, ambitious production design and innovative narrative structures.

Varanasi is already generating attention for its scale. Reports suggest that it will be the first non-English feature film to shoot extensively in the full 1.43:1 IMAX aspect ratio. The film is also expected to feature international locations spanning Africa, Antarctica, Europe and ancient India. Co-starring Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Prithviraj Sukumaran, the film is reportedly being planned for a simultaneous release in over 120 countries, including a dedicated international version with English subtitles.
