Aditya Dhar Keeps Dhurandhar Details Under Wraps At National Film Awards: Will Discuss Next Year

Filmmaker Aditya Dhar and actress Yami Gautam attended the 72nd National Film Awards on September 22, marking a special evening for the couple. Yami was there to receive the Best Actress in a Leading Role award for her performance in Article 370, while the political thriller has also won the Best Feature Film honour.

While the evening celebrated Article 370 and Yami Gautam’s achievement, Aditya Dhar hinted that Dhurandhar could be discussed at next year’s National Awards.

Speaking about the occasion, Dhar said, “We are here for Article 370. We’ll discuss Dhurandhar, hopefully, if we come next year also. But today, it’s all about Article 370.”

For Yami, the National Award is a significant milestone in her acting career. Speaking about the honour, she described it as the “biggest validation” an artist can receive and called it the highest honour presented by the country.

Yami also spoke about how Article 370 gave her the opportunity to explore the kind of roles she had been wanting to take on for a long time. Reflecting on the recognition, she said, “Everything I had been wanting to do as an actor for the longest time.”

The 72nd National Film Awards honour films released in 2024. Since Dhurandhar released in 2025, it could be eligible for a future edition of the awards. Its 2026 sequel may also be considered in a subsequent edition, subject to the applicable eligibility rules.
