Veteran actor Radha has approached the Greater Chennai Police Commissioner, alleging that signed blank cheques kept at her Chennai residence were accessed and presented for encashment in her sister Ambika’s name.

Radha alleges misuse of old cheques

A family property arrangement dating back nearly two decades has taken a fresh turn, with veteran actor Radha approaching the Greater Chennai Police Commissioner with allegations against her sister and fellow actor Ambika and their brother Mallikarjuna Kunjan Nair.

In her complaint, submitted on September 21, Radha has alleged that signed blank cheques belonging to her were taken from her residence and subsequently used in an attempt to claim around Rs 46 crore. The complaint also raises concerns over access to property, personal documents and valuables allegedly kept in the portion of the property belonging to her.

According to the complaint, Radha maintained an IDBI Bank current account for her business, which was earlier operated under the name ARS Garden Studio. She says she would keep a few signed blank cheques at her residence to meet routine expenses, including salaries, electricity and other utility bills, taxes and garden maintenance, particularly when she was travelling.

Radha subsequently changed the name of the business to RR Gardens in January 2025 and began using a new cheque book. As the older cheque book was no longer in use, she says she eventually forgot about the remaining cheques.

The actor claims the matter came to light on September 17, when she received communication from the bank informing her that five cheques from the old cheque book had been presented for encashment in Ambika’s name. Radha says she immediately instructed the bank to stop payment, maintaining that she had neither given the cheques to her sister nor entered into any financial arrangement with her that would warrant such payments.

Complaint also raises property access concerns

Radha has further alleged that the cheques were filled out by their brother Mallikarjuna. According to her complaint, the siblings acted together in an attempt to use the documents for financial gain. She has also alleged that the cheques were taken from her room without her knowledge while she was away from Chennai.

The complaint also brings the family’s long-running property dispute back into focus. Radha has alleged that she has been prevented from accessing her share of the property, where she says valuables, jewellery, property documents and other important records are kept.

The actor has requested the police to investigate the allegations and initiate appropriate criminal action if the charges are found to be established.

The dispute has its roots in a family arrangement made nearly two decades ago, when properties were divided among family members. The latest complaint suggests that the disagreement has now moved beyond questions of ownership and into allegations concerning financial documents and access to personal belongings.

At this stage, the allegations contained in Radha’s complaint remain claims and have not been adjudicated. The police investigation is expected to establish how the old cheques came to be presented, who filled them in and the circumstances under which they were allegedly accessed.

For Radha and Ambika, both established names who have enjoyed long careers in the South Indian film industries, the development marks a new chapter in a family dispute that has resurfaced after several years.

The film’s content features excessive violence and bloodshed, while a few cuss words prompted the censor board to review the film for an A certificate. Nani took to his social media handle and wrote, “Guidelines say A But the content says Universal Ready.” This brings The Paradise’s final runtime to 174 minutes (2 hours and 54 minutes).

Nani set for career-best opening

While advance bookings have opened to a thunderous response, Nani is all poised to enjoy his career-best opening with The Paradise. According to trade estimates, the makers are eyeing massive worldwide gross collections on the opening day. The film arrives on September 24, 2026, with a reported worldwide theatrical business of Rs 103.75 crore. According to Sacnilk, The Paradise needs a worldwide share of ₹105 crore plus, roughly ₹200 crore gross, to be called a hit. Advance bookings in Nizam opened with over one lakh tickets sold, amassing an impressive total gross of Rs 10 crore so far.

The Paradise overseas

The pre-release sales for The Paradise have gathered momentum across overseas markets too. According to Sacnilk, worldwide advance bookings have already crossed the Rs 10 crore mark (with three days remaining before release) for the opening day. These box-office numbers indicate the strong interest and expectations audiences have for the action thriller. North America has emerged as an especially important territory, with premiere advance sales reportedly crossing $650,000 so far.

The makers of Fauzi have delivered disappointing news to fans. The Prabhas-starrer will not meet its December 3 release date. This effectively rules out any chance of the multilingual film, which was set to be Prabhas’ second release of 2026, arriving this year after all.

Speaking at the pre-release event for The Paradise on Monday evening, producer Y Ravi Shankar apologised to the audience for the delay. “Fauzi has been pushed back a little,” he said. “But trust me, it’s on a different level altogether. It’s Baahubali-esque in the way it presents Prabhas garu. You are going to cherish this film for a lifetime; it’s that great.”

Buzz around the Fauzi scale continues

While Prabhas’ fans haven’t received an official explanation for the postponement, sources suggest it stems from delays in post-production. Even so, the buzz remains high, especially after the producer, known for the Pushpa franchise and the recent Irumudi, promised a visual spectacle reminiscent of Baahubali, which stunned audiences nearly eight years ago.

Fauzi was originally slated for an Independence Day release this year before being pushed to December 3. Now, with that date also off the table, a new release window sometime in early 2027 is expected to be announced soon. The delay is being attributed to the film’s massive scale, multi-unit shooting schedules and the extensive post-production work required to match its ambitious vision.

Fauzi has an intriguing premise

Directed by Hanu Raghavapudi, Fauzi draws from an intriguing premise: What if Karna had joined forces with the Pandavas instead of the Kauravas? This reimagining forms the emotional core of Prabhas’ character arc, while his romance with co-star Imanvi Esmail is expected to remain one of the film’s key highlights.

For now, fans are eagerly awaiting the first glimpse of the film, which is expected to drop around Dasara in October. Once it’s out, the ambitious claims surrounding Fauzi are sure to be put under the internet’s microscope once again.
