With Daayra gearing up for a wide theatrical release on September 18, 2026, all eyes are on the crime investigative thriller. Interestingly, the Meghna Gulzar directorial hasn’t received any visual cuts from the censor board when the film was screened. The development certainly came like a shot in the arm for the Kareena Kapoor Khan and Prithviraj Sukumaran-starrer.

Daayra run time

When the makers of Daayra submitted the film for the censor screening, apparently, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) hadn’t had any objections with reference to the visuals. The committee suggested one small modification to ‘suitably modify’ one dialogue of Ajooni (Kareena Kapoor Khan) at around two hours. In the same dialogue, a word was replaced by ‘Minister.’ After the makers made the change and submitted to the censor, Daayra was passed on September 11. This brings the run time of the crime thriller to around two hours and 23 minutes with an A rating.

Daayra’s intense conversations

Daayra explores a brutal crime and a controversial extra-judicial police encounter from opposing ends of the legal system. There are some violent scenes and hard-hitting dialogues, and there was an apprehension that the censor board would dilute or mute the intense conversations. But the dialogues have been left untouched. The makers feel that the film gets to release exactly as they intended, and that the unfiltered perspectives of the narrative would make for a better cinematic experience.

One of the most-anticipated films

Daayra has certainly become one of the most anticipated releases of the year. What sets off the tone for the film is the powerhouse face-off and the intense moral conflict between Kareena Kapoor and Prithviraj. The former plays DCP Ajooni Kohli, a stoic investigator who strictly operates within the boundaries of the law. On the other hand, Prithviraj plays DCP Raman Kumar, a rule-bending encounter specialist who prioritises immediate justice over the due legal course.

It is now fairly clear that Prabhas-starrer Fauzi will not reach cinemas on December 3 as scheduled. A major mystical thriller, Naga Chaitanya’s upcoming film Vrushakarma, has already claimed the slot. This development is an indirect confirmation that the postponement plans of Fauzi are real.

The reason for Fauzi’s postponement lies predominantly in post-production. Most event films chasing top-tier visuals run into CGI and VFX delays, and Fauzi is no exception. The team, Prabhas in particular, is leaving nothing to chance, especially after the underwhelming performance of The Raja Saab earlier this year. The superstar is determined to hit back at the box office with vengeance. But the film’s own logic demands flawless imagery too: set in British India, it belongs to a genre where any visual compromise can prove expensive. Period spectacles rarely forgive shortcuts.

According to the tinsel town sources, Fauzi delay could stretch beyond 45 days. If things fall into place, the Hanu Raghavapudi directorial may arrive in the last week of January 2027, the time that sits well with the film’s genre. Republic Day and a film carrying patriotic, even philosophical, dialogue make for a natural pairing. January 26 remains an informed expectation rather than a certainty. Should the nationalism sentiment catch on through a song or some other promotional asset, the pre-release buzz would be enhanced. Occasions matter in theatres, which are a communal experience.

The knock-on effects are unavoidable. Spirit’s release calendar will feel the impact first; a March 5, 2027 outing now looks unlikely. Two Prabhas releases need breathing space between them, and the actor’s dates for Spirit may not be easy to come by. Kalki 2 will also see its shoot pushed slightly, though with no release date locked in, that slippage won’t show up as a visible reschedule.

An official announcement is still awaited regarding Fauzi release. For the time being, fans continue to play the guessing game until the makers confirm a new date. What does look settled is that Fauzi has quietly stepped aside to buy itself more time.

A wedding night is usually associated with celebrations, new beginnings and the promise of a life together. Modha Rathiri takes that familiar setting and turns it into the backdrop for an increasingly chaotic series of events. The rural comedy drama, led by Rishikanth and Anishma Anilkumar, is now set for its next phase after its theatrical release on August 21.

Directed by Raja Karuppasamy, Modha Rathiri revolves around an unusual wedding where unexpected developments, secrets and lies begin to pile up as the night progresses. What should have been a straightforward celebration gradually turns into an unpredictable chain of incidents, forming the basis for the film’s humour and drama.

The film marks an interesting entry point for its debutant team, with the makers choosing to build their story around a single eventful night rather than a conventional rural drama.

Rishikanth And Anishma Lead The Wedding Drama

Rishikanth takes on the central role in Modha Rathiri, with Anishma Anilkumar playing the female lead. Their characters find themselves at the centre of a wedding that refuses to go according to plan, as a series of revelations and complications disrupt what should be an important moment in their lives.

The supporting cast features several familiar faces, including Chetan, A Venkatesh, Bagavathi Perumal, Abdool Lee, Shelly Kishore, Sangeetha Balan and Banupriya.

Raja Karuppasamy has directed the film, which is backed by Mythri Movie Makers. The technical crew includes cinematographer Surendran Paranjothi and editor Ashok Arjunan, while Bharath Sankar has composed the music.

The rural setting gives the film another layer, allowing the wedding to become more than simply a backdrop for the central romance. As different characters become caught up in the night’s events, the story draws its energy from the resulting confusion and the secrets that gradually come to light.

A New Chapter For The Debutant Team

Modha Rathiri’s theatrical release on August 21 marked an important milestone for its young team. Rather than depending on a major star to drive the premise, the film puts its unusual central situation and ensemble of characters at the forefront.

The decision to structure the narrative around the events of a single night also gives the film a contained quality. A wedding, with its crowded rooms, family dynamics and heightened emotions, naturally creates plenty of opportunities for misunderstandings and unexpected confrontations. Modha Rathiri uses that setting to explore what happens when everything begins to unravel at once.

The film’s digital arrival now gives audiences another opportunity to experience the story and meet the team behind it. For Rishikanth, Anishma and director Raja Karuppasamy, the project represents a significant step as they establish themselves in Tamil cinema.

With its rural backdrop, ensemble cast and wedding-night premise, Modha Rathiri attempts to find humour in the unpredictability of a celebration that goes increasingly off course. What begins as a day meant to unite two people soon becomes a night where almost nothing goes according to plan.
