Aditi Rao Hydari and Siddharth made headlines when they got engaged in an intimate ceremony that was kept tightly under wraps till they made an official announcement. Now, the two have made an appearance at the premiere of Heermandi.

At the star-studded premiere of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi, Aditi Rao Hydari was joined by her fiance Siddharth. The actress opted for a purple and yellow ethnic look while Siddharth was clicked in a black sherwani.

Aditi and Siddharth announced their engagement with a set of adorable posts. The former wrote, “He said yes! E. N. G. A. G. E. D.” as she shared the big news.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi features Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Richa Chadha, Sanjeeda Sheikh, Sharmin Segal, Fardeen Khan and more. The show will release on May 1, 2024.

Kumail Nanjiani known for The Big Sick and Stuber is an Oscar and Emmy-nominated writer, comedian and critically acclaimed actor. The artist made his way into the Ghostbuster franchise with the recent installation Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire and played the role of Nadeem.

Talking about his character, he said, “What’s great about Nadeem is that he encompasses what makes Ghostbusters special, he’s a slacker. He’s completely discounted by everyone around him. And he’s the only one who can tackle this big, terrifying demon who can scare people to death just by looking at them.” The actor even went on to explain why he loves his character so much and said, “That’s what I love – he’s a very grounded, normal character. Some might call him a loser, and he doesn’t like it, but can’t deny it. And then suddenly he has to defeat this massive demon.” In the film, Kumail will be seen facing off with some of the bigger ghosts.

The film is directed by Gil Kenan and also stars Paul Rudd, Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard and Mckenna Grace in pivotal roles. The plot of the film revolves around the Spengler family returning to the iconic New York City firehouse where the original Ghostbusters took ghost-busting to the next level. The discovery of an ancient artefact leads to the union of new and old Ghostbusters so that they can protect their home and save the world from a second ice age.

The film was released in the US on March 22 and is all set to hit the Indian cinemas on April 26. Check out the film’s trailer:

Reacting sharply to a report by the US State Department in which it said there were “significant human rights abuses” in Manipur after violence broke out in the state last year, India has said the document is deeply biased and reflects a poor understanding of the country. 

Responding to a question on the report during the Ministry of External Affairs’ weekly media briefing on Thursday, the Ministry’s Spokesperson, Randhir Jaiswal said, “This report is deeply biased and reflects a very poor understanding of India. We attach no value to it and urge you also to do the same.”

The executive summary of the ‘2023 Country Reports on Human Rights Practices: India’, released recently, states that the ethnic conflict between the Meitei and Kuki communities in Manipur resulted in “significant human rights abuses”. 

It also noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi described the incident as “shameful” and called for action on the case.

The report, which is released by the State Department every year and is mandated by the US Congress, also mentioned a 60-hour search of the BBC’s Delhi and Mumbai offices on February 14 and noted that the action came soon after the release of a documentary by the broadcaster on PM Modi. 

“Although tax authorities described the search as motivated by irregularities in the BBC’s tax payments and ownership structure, officials also searched and seized equipment from journalists who were not involved in the organization’s financial processes,” the report said.
