Karl Urban has recently opened up about The Boys’ new season and what fans can expect out of it. During an interaction, Karl shared about a mole being on sets who would leak script-level information on the internet. The makers, cast and crew decided to put a stop to it once and for all. And they were successful.
For those unaware, Karl Urban plays the now fan-favourite Billy Butcher. Now that the season is inching closer to its much-awaited finale, the actor has opened up about the mole. He shared, “At the beginning of season three, there was a mole on set feeding scripts and information to the internet. It was wild… The interactions with people who are coming up and saying ‘Hey, I love your show, can I have my picture with you.’ It was this slow process as the show became more and more popular, directly proportional to the loss of anonymity then I knew we had reached a totally new threshold, which I had never experienced before.”
He further added, “I learned a long time ago it’s dangerous to have expectations. I wouldn’t say I had any expectations of the show, but I certainly had hopes. We were greenlit for a second season, and it slowly dawned on me that this show is a hit, and not just by the ratings numbers, but in day to day life.”
The Boys is based on The New York Times best-selling comic by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, who also serve as executive producers, and developed by executive producer and showrunner Eric Kripke. Besides them, Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, Neal H. Moritz, Pavun Shetty, Phil Sgriccia, Michaela Starr, Paul Grellong, David Reed, Judalina Neira, Jessica Chou, Gabriel Garcia, Ori Marmur, Ken F. Levin and Jason Netter also serve as the show’s executive producers.
The Boys boasts a phenomenal ensemble cast, including Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Jessie T. Usher, Laz Alonso, Chace Crawford, Tomer Capone, Karen Fukuhara, Nathan Mitchell, and Colby Minifieis, among others.
Produced by Sony Pictures Television, Amazon MGM Studios, with Kripke Enterprises, Original Film, and Point Grey Pictures, the first four episodes of The Boys Season 5 are now streaming on Prime Video, with weekly releases every Wednesday, until the finale on May 13, 2026.
