It is rumoured that a potential appearance in a song by Mrunal Thakur in the upcoming Ram Charan starrer, Peddi, is on the cards. During a promotional event for her upcoming film Dacoit this past Saturday, reporters questioned the actress about these persistent whispers.

Mrunal Thakur dodges…
As rumours about Mrunal Thakur’s appearance in a special song in Peddi gained momentum, the buzz surrounding the Ram Charan-starrer has gotten bigger. When the actress was asked about the same, rather than providing a clear answer, she avoided the topic. “Any questions about Dacoit? I am waiting for you all to ask me about Dacoit,” the Hi Nanna actress said. The Sita Ramam star then steered the conversation back to Dacoit. It is understandable why she didn’t make a definitive statement. If she is indeed part of Peddi, it’s for the makers to make the announcement. If the talks are still underway, she couldn’t have been expected to make a statement.

I am Maharashtrian, says Mrunal
Soon after telling the press to focus on Dacoit, Mrunal spoke of how even Marathis believe she is a Telugu ‘ammayi’. “I am Maharashtrian. When Sita Ramam, Hi Nanna, and The Family Star were released, many people in my home state watched them in Telugu in theatres, even without subtitles. On one occasion, a fan I met at the airport hugged me and thanked me for filming Dacoit in Hindi as well. I want rooted stories to reach people’s hearts. I am forever grateful; that warm hug truly meant a lot to me,” Mrunal said.
In Dacoit, which is slated to hit the marquee on April 10, Mrunal is paired up with Adivi Sesh. She plays his wife, and when the duo stages a heist, there are hidden motives and dangerous chases involved. This one seems to feature Mrunal in a highly performance-oriented role. She shares screen space with Bollywood filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, who plays a cop.
