The first glimpse of Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama from Ramayana was unveiled on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti today, April 2. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the film has been one of the most anticipated projects this year, and the initial reactions to the teaser have only amplified that anticipation.
At the launch, Tiwari addressed the audience and reflected on the long journey behind the film. He said, “It took me seven years to reach this moment. Filmmaking is a very speculative and lonely process.”
The filmmaker continued, “Every moment of these seven years, I have imagined this moment and what the reaction would be when it finally comes out. And now, seeing your reaction, I feel it was worth all these seven years. A lot of people have put in a lot of effort to get here, and I hope we receive the same amount of love from all of you.”
Producer Namit Malhotra joined him. However, Ranbir Kapoor couldn’t make it to the event.
The teaser that was released today reveals Ranbir Kapoor as Maryada Purushottam Rama. He is seen in the avatar of a supreme man, protector and the embodiment of righteousness, dharma and ethical conduct. Maryada denotes the boundaries of righteousness, while Purushottam means the best of men.
In the glimpse, visuals of Rama’s life in the vanavas are highlighted. He is seen battling demons, ruling his people and living up to his father Dasharatha’s expectations. The glimpse also shows Sai Pallavi as Sita and Ravie Dubey as Lakshmana. The film also features Bobby Deol as Lord Hanuman and Yash as Ravana. However, their looks have not been revealed yet.
The film will be released in two parts. The first part will hit the theatres in Diwali 2026, while the second part will hit the theatres in Diwali 2027.
