Aamir Khan Clarifies Title Of Sunny Deol And Preity Zinta Starrer Lahore 1947 Remains Unchanged

Recently, there was a buzz around the much-awaited film Lahore 1947, starring Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta. Reports had begun to circulate suggesting that the film’s title was being scrapped in favour of a new one, Batwara 1947. However, producer Aamir Khan has now stepped forward to clear the air, confirming that the original title is here to stay.

The speculation about the name change reportedly came from industry chatter. Some suggested that naming an Indian film after a city in Pakistan might lead to hesitation among audiences given the current social and political climate. Despite these concerns, Aamir has dismissed the claims of a title change. Addressing the rumours with a light-hearted approach, Aamir laughed and said, “Where did you hear that? No, the title of our film has not changed. As of now, it is Lahore 1947, and that’s how I would like it to be.”

While Aamir has denied any changes based on audience perception, there is a minor technical hurdle about the name. Filmmaker Suneel Darshan currently holds the rights to the title Lahore. However, discussions are reportedly underway to resolve this rights-related issue, and a settlement is expected soon.

The film is directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, who expressed immense pride in the team assembled for this project. Speaking about the collaboration, Santoshi said, “It’s a reunion with the most talented people. I worked with Aamir in Andaz Apna Apna, and this time he is collaborating as a producer. On the other hand, with Sunny Deol, we made the most loved films like Ghayal, Damini, and Ghatak.”

The director also highlighted the technical expertise behind the scenes, calling it a dream team. Santoshi said, “For a film of this magnitude, I can’t think of anyone else than AR Rahman as a music composer; he is one of the top composers in the world right now. Javed Akhtar and I share a very good bond with each other for many years; having him for this project as a lyricist is a delight. This is truly the best dream team and rare to come together.”

As fans eagerly await the return of the Sunny Deol-Preity Zinta pairing on the big screen, Lahore 1947 is currently expected to hit theatres around Independence Day.
