Exclusive: Bridgertonâs Yerin Ha Says Luke Thompson took Her Under His Wing From Day 1 of Filming

Yerin Ha did not shy away from opening up about the generosity her co-star Luke Newton has showed throughout the filming of Season 4 of Bridgerton. The actress, who plays the leading lady this season, Sophie Baek, has shared how she felt ‘nervous’ on the first few days. When asked who took her under their wings and helped her get acquainted to the workings on the set, Yerin, without missing a beat, pointed at her co-actor Luke. “This guy,” she said.

Yerin jokingly added, “He also had to. He did not have any choice. We had most of our scenes with each other.” Luke, being flattered by the same, opened up on his take of welcoming newcomers to a globally popular show like Bridgerton. “Bridgerton, as a show regenerates every season. It was not even about welcoming Yerin. It was actually about asking her to help us. It about her bringing in a new energy. We need newness once in a while,” he quipped.

But how did Yerin deal with the nervousness of joining an already successful show, and that too as the lead? She noted that she let herself be and simply went with the flow. The actress shared, “I was nervous and felt like I was breaking up the group. I felt like I was slotting myself there. And I think you just have to let it all happen. Luckily enough, everyone welcomed me with open arms. They were gracious and felt like they almost wanted new energy and new people. Their universe was ready to be expanded. It did not feel like I was being a burden to anyone. You know, after all, season 2 saw a new lead too (Simone Ashley). It has been fine.”

Exclusive: Sooraj Barjatya on Collaborating With Salman Khan Again: We Have to Wait…

The collaborations between Sooraj Barjatya and Salman Khan have shaped some of Hindi cinema’s most beloved family entertainers. Their partnership began with Maine Pyar Kiya (1989), which established Salman as a romantic hero and revived the musical love story format. They reunited for Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! (1994). It was a cultural phenomenon that redefined the Bollywood wedding film, followed by Hum Saath‑Saath Hain (1999) and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (2015). Across these films, Salman’s recurring “Prem” persona, as an earnest, family-oriented and idealistic man, became central to Barjatya’s signature world of warmth, tradition and wholesome romance.

Sooraj Barjatya

During an exclusive interview with Filmfare, we got the opportunity to ask the filmmaker whether a possible collaboration with his favourite “Prem”, aka Salman Khan is on the cards. When asked about if fans can expect a film soon, he said, “Nothing as of now. We have to wait for the correct time.”

However, while answering another question about his career trajectory, Barjatya opened up if he had a formula in choosing the right actors for the right roles. He shared about choosing Salman as the lead for his first few movies. The filmmaker quipped, “Sometimes, you write for a character thinking of someone. Like, for example, my first couple of films were written for Salman bhai. Interestingly, my roles also tell me who to approach. You cannot cast the wrong person because your character won’t allow it.”

On the professional front, Sooraj Barjatya has recently released his new show Sangamarmar, featuring Sheen Savita Dass and Sourabh Raaj Jain. Salman Khan, on the other hand, is preparing for his next movie, Battle of Galwan.
