Giving a fillip to the central government’s call for indigenisation, Assam Rifles is planning to induct dog breeds available in India into its squad for carrying out a range of operations, a senior official said on Thursday.

The Supreme Court on Thursday refused to entertain a writ petition filed by Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP Jairam Ramesh challenging the grant of ex-post facto environmental clearances (EC).

Due to sustained efforts by the Centre, 2,661 Indian fishermen have been repatriated from Pakistan since 2014, the government informed the Rajya Sabha on Thursday.
