In the age of constant digital surveillance and the presence of smartphone cameras, Priyanka Chopra Jonas is taking firm steps to protect her family’s boundaries. While she has spent decades in the public eye, her perspective on security has evolved especially since becoming a mother to her daughter, Malti Marie. In a recent conversation, Priyanka revealed that her decision to employ a security team is not about self-importance or a fear of physical threats, but rather a necessary measure to avoid intrusive paparazzi culture and unauthorized filming.
Speaking with Variety, Priyanka clarified that her bodyguards are well aware of her love for her fans. She explained, “I am ok with being approached by anyone and taking photos, and they (guards) know that I love people coming to talk to me.” However, she mentioned that their primary role has shifted toward ensuring consent in a world where everyone carries a camera. She said that the guards are there “to make sure we’re not being recorded without consent.”

Priyanka expressed that her biggest concern involves the lack of privacy during ordinary family moments. Since welcoming Malti Marie in January 2022, Priyanka has been protective of her daughter’s childhood. She shared her frustration about how quickly private moments become public property, saying, “That’s my biggest thing with everyone having cell phones. It happens often, especially with my daughter. We’re in the park or having ice cream, and suddenly I’ll see it online.”
For Priyanka, the security presence is a shield against digital intrusion rather than physical danger. She admitted, “Otherwise, I don’t need it. Nobody’s gonna kill me.” Her priority remains allowing Malti Marie to enjoy a normal upbringing, playing and eating ice cream without the constant pressure of being filmed by strangers. This real-life protective instinct also somewhat matches the themes of her upcoming project, The Bluff, where she plays a mother dedicated to safeguarding her family.
