Bejoy Nambiar’s Tu Yaa Main, which is just a couple of days away from its release, brings together Shanaya Kapoor and Adarsh Gourav on-screen for the first time. What begins as a Gen-Z rom-com soon turns into a survival thriller when they are accidentally stuck with a crocodile in a pool. And the shoot was as crazy as the film, reveals the director in an exclusive conversation with Filmfare.

Bejoy almost said no to this film, which is an official adaptation of The Pool. Narrating the incident, he shared, “I remember going in for the meeting, already decided that I’m not going to do it. But I was taken in by the world and the script narration. I didn’t know that it was an official adaptation of The Pool. But when it was narrated to me, I realised it was a new subject altogether. Just the idea of it intrigued me. The narration was so much fun that I remember telling my wife that if it sounds so good, then all I need to do is execute it right.”

 
Bejoy then heaped praises on his actors Shanaya and Adarsh, saying that they surprised him in ways he did not even expect. He narrated an incident where he had to call Shanaya’s father, Sanjay Kapoor, after a shot. Bejoy explained, “I remember I called Shanaya’s father at one point. We had a small schedule left to shoot a scene with her. It was one of the early scenes in the film. It was always a part of the script, but we ended up rewriting it because of what Shanaya brought to the table and the way she shaped the character. The scene felt wrong if we had done it the way it was originally written. Because of the honesty she brought to the role, we fine-tuned it to stay cohesive with what she had already established. I called her father to tell him that she was doing so well that it made me rethink my own scene.”

Bejoy also shared with us a behind-the-scenes moment he’ll never forget, involving Shanaya. He continued, “It was the third or fourth day of the shoot, and we were almost on the verge of finishing. Suddenly, my team said that we have some time left and could knock off another setup. But Shanaya had to get ready for that. Her entire look had to be changed, and we had just one hour to do that. I was waiting when my Assistant Director came and told me Shanaya wanted to meet me. I thought she was going to throw a tantrum about the last-minute change. I was mentally preparing myself to pacify her.”

He added, “But when I walked into the vanity, expecting a tantrum, guess what she was doing? She called me in just to show me that she was washing her hair! (laughs). We were shooting in a dump yard, she had gel in her hair, and she was filming a reel of herself washing it. She called me to show me that. It was crazy. Also, cops came and tried to shut us down. My line producer just took them away, and while they were talking, we were still secretly shooting.”

Tu Yaa Main will be released in theatres on February 13.

Prime Video has announced that Subedaar will premiere globally on March 5. The Hindi action-drama features Anil Kapoor and Radhikka Madan in the lead roles and is directed by Suresh Triveni. The film will stream in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu across India and in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.

The story follows Subedaar Arjun Maurya, a retired soldier navigating life after service. As he adjusts to a changing social landscape, he finds himself confronting crime and corruption while also dealing with strained family relationships. The narrative focuses on themes of duty, honour and personal responsibility.

Along with the lead cast, the film also features Saurabh Shukla, Aditya Rawal, Faisal Malik and Mona Singh in supporting roles. It is produced by Vikram Malhotra, Anil Kapoor and Suresh Triveni under Opening Image Films, in association with Anil Kapoor Film & Communication Network.

The film blends action with emotional conflict, centering on a former soldier trying to hold on to his values while facing personal and societal challenges. It will be available to stream on Prime Video.

Siddhant Chaturvedi recently shared his opinion on the evolving nature of modern relationships, offering a refreshing perspective that challenges common stereotypes about the younger generation.

Speaking about the current dating culture, Siddhant firmly stood his ground, saying, “Gen Z isn’t confused in love. This isn’t a generational issue, it’s evolution.” Siddhant highlighted how the digital era has shifted the way romance is navigated. Mentioning that emotions are now expressed and understood in real time, often through the lens of a screen, Siddhant added, “Today we live in the age of social media, and that has changed the way love works.” 

Siddhant also went on to compare today’s fast-paced digital love with the old-school charm of the past. Reflecting on earlier times, he pointed out that confusion in love is nothing new, it simply looked different back then. He shared, “In our time, confusion existed at a completely different level. There was no social media, so most of the time we simply didn’t know what the other person was feeling. Years would pass, and we’d still be unaware of their emotions.” Siddhant fondly recalled the simplicity of those days, saying, “We would stand outside school, waiting just to catch a glimpse, hoping for that one look. Did they notice us or not? If they walked away, would they turn back and look? These tiny moments meant everything to us.”

As he gears up for his upcoming romantic film Do Deewane Seher Mein, where he stars opposite Mrunal Thakur, Siddhant’s shared his insights on love during the social media phase. He observed how social media has become a silent participant in modern courtships. He shared,  “Now, even love is heavily influenced by social media. People deliberately put up stories with songs they know the other person likes, then wait to see if they’ve viewed it or liked it.”

Siddhant also touched upon the complex vocabulary of the current dating scene. He said, “Today, there are so many terms in modern dating like ghosting, breadcrumbing, and more, that half the time we don’t even know what all of them mean.”
