Dhurandhar has released on OTT after a successful theatrical run. The movie has earned approximately Rs 1000 crores at the Box Office. Now, it has been released in three languages on OTT, namely Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. The makers can expect fans to rewatch it or movie lovers to tune in for the first time.

However, many fans who watched it in the theatres before revealed that the film was censored for its OTT release. Social media has been flooded with outrage about major dialogues being muted or scenes being cut. Fans also discussed that a total of 10 minutes of the movie has been removed by the streaming platform. This includes censoring abusive language. Many fans were confused about the logic of censoring an adult movie in a platform that streams content for 18+ audience.

One fan wrote, “Man what’s the point of releasing #DhurandharOnNetflix when the cuss words are muted… A certificate me bhi censorship… Probably they don’t want any backlash before Dhurandhar 2. But still I had hopes to witness the uncensored version…” Another fan commented, “Why the f**k Dhurandhar is so heavily censored on Netflix? Despite holding an ‘A’ (Adults only) rating, the streaming version features muted dialogues — censored swear words, abuses, and in some cases, even crucial dialogues are muted, and approximately 10 minutes of edited (cut scenes) compared to the theatrical.” Another tweet mentioned, “Why have you censored the cuss words in #Dhurandhar? What’s the goddamn point if we can’t enjoy any movie properly? Do you censor cuss words in any english movie? No, right? Then why this discrimination? DISAPPOINTED.”

We wrote, “Dhurandhar remains an arresting film, bold in its scale, muscular in its action, textured in its craft, and powered by performances that elevate even its weaker stretches. It is imperfect, overlong, but never dull. And in Akshaye Khanna, it gives Hindi cinema one of its most memorable antagonists in recent years.”
