Sanjeev Khirwar, a 1994-batch IAS officer, has been appointed as the new municipal commissioner of Delhi. This comes over three years after he was transferred out of the capital following a controversy involving walking his dog at Thyagaraj Stadium, which allegedly disrupted athletes’ training.

A Delhi court has acquitted former Congress MP Sajjan Kumar in a case linked to incidents of violence during the 1984 anti-Sikh riots in west Delhi.

Acting DGP Rajeev Kumar, along with Ranvir Kumar and Rajesh Kumar, will retire on January 31. Sources say the state government has forwarded names to the UPSC on January 21.
