Aamir Khan and Rajkumar Hiranis Dadasaheb Phalke Biopic Facing Delay?
Aamir Khan and director Rajkumar Hirani were associated with the Dadasaheb Phalke biopic. While fans have been waiting for an update for some time, a recent report from Mid-Day suggests that the project, which was expected to go on floor by January 2026, will now start by March 2026. Another report in 2025 had previously claimed that the movie would go on floors very early next year. However, that does not seem to be the situation anymore.
According to a report by Mid-Day, Hirani and Khan have been trying to work on a film that would feel “emotionally contemporary while staying rooted in history.” The report further added, “The rewrite is to fine-tune the balance of humour and sincerity. They want to ensure that the character arc captures Phalke’s stature. The draft will likely be finalised by February, and production will begin in late March.”
For those unaware, the actor-director duo has previously worked in hits like PK and 3 Idiots. Naturally, audiences are expecting a lot from the new film. As per other reports, the team working on the film is particularly ensuring authenticity.
FX Studios in Los Angeles have already developed AI-assisted visual materials to authentically capture the era in which the story is set. Notably, the screenplay has been in development for more than four years and is being crafted by an accomplished team of writers led by Rajkumar Hirani, alongside Abhijat Joshi, Hindukush Bharadwaj, and Avishkar Bharadwaj.
Talking about other projects, Aamir Khan will be seen in Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos in a cameo role. The Vir Das directorial will mark Imran Khan’s return to films. Audiences are also looking forward to witness the camaraderie between Aamir and Imran, who are close relatives, too. The film is set to release on January 16, 2026.
