Prabhas Is a Global Sweetheart With Fans Everywhere: Director Maruthi

The team behind The Raja Saab has shed light on the extensive effort that went into mounting the Prabhas-starrer. Slated for release on January 9, the horror-comedy fantasy promises to impress audiences with its grand scale and distinctive visual style.

Rebel Saab song

Producer Vishwa Prasad spoke at length about the film’s expansive set, designed by Rajeevan, revealing that a barren stretch of land was transformed into one of the largest palace sets ever built in Hyderabad. “We’re talking about deep, symmetrical designs and a massive structure that truly conveys enormity,” he said, adding that audiences would feel the grandeur the moment the film hits the screen.

Highlighting the film’s wide release, the producer noted that The Raja Saab will open on approximately 3,800 to 4,500 screens across North India. “We are also planning a Japanese dub in the next three to six months to tap into Prabhas’ global popularity. Closer home, the film will release in around 300 screens in Telugu and 75 screens in Kannada across Karnataka,” he added.

The Raja Saab release date

Director Maruthi spoke about the pressure of presenting Rebel Star Prabhas in a new avatar. “Turning Prabhas into the royal yet rebellious Raja Saab was challenging, but it helped us create a completely different world,” he said. “Prabhas isn’t just a star here—he is a global sweetheart with fans everywhere, including Japan,” Maruthi added, promising a fresh cinematic experience that will stay with audiences long after the credits roll.

Music composer Thaman also shared insights into the film’s soundscape. “The film has a strong period vibe, so I couldn’t go too modern or too old-school. I aimed for a Gen Z–friendly sound that still fits the era. The background score works like dialogue—it speaks and pushes the story forward,” he said.

The makers are optimistic that The Raja Saab will open to a Rs 100 crore gross on its first day. Grand premiere shows are planned across the Telugu states and select territories on January 8, ahead of the theatrical release.

Ravi Mohan Stands With Vijay As Jana Nayagan Release Faces Indefinite Delay

The postponement of Jana Nayagan has left Vijay’s fan base reeling, but in the middle of the disappointment has come a show of rare industry unity. On Wednesday, KVN Productions announced that the release of Vijay’s much awaited final film has been pushed indefinitely due to unresolved issues with the Central Board of Film Certification. Within hours, actor Ravi Mohan took to X to voice his support for Vijay, striking a tone that felt more personal than professional.

When a clash becomes camaraderie

Sharing the production house’s update, Ravi Mohan wrote, “Heartbroken, Vijay Anna… as a brother, I’m standing with you as one among the millions of brothers beside you. You don’t need a date… you are the opening. Whenever that date is… Pongal only starts then.” The words quickly went viral, with fans lauding the actor for choosing empathy over competition at a time when tempers were already high.

The timing of Ravi Mohan’s note has only added to its resonance. Until the postponement was announced, social media was abuzz with chatter about a potential Pongal box office face-off between Jana Nayagan and Parasakthi, a Sudha Kongara directed period drama that features Ravi Mohan in a pivotal antagonist role opposite Sivakarthikeyan. With Parasakthi still set to release on January 10, many expected the two films to be locked in a fierce battle for screens and footfalls. Instead, Ravi Mohan has publicly stood with Vijay, turning what could have been a competitive moment into a statement of fraternity.

A film caught in limbo

Just days before the postponement, Ravi Mohan had also shared the Jana Nayagan trailer on X and showered praise on Vijay. His earlier post read, “#JanaNayagan Vijay Anna, you have already won for me. In everything. The trailer is super realistically you and I’m sure this movie is winning the hearts of many, including me, your forever fan and brother.” That endorsement, coming from an actor who was effectively facing Vijay at the box office, had already been seen as a goodwill gesture. The latest note has only strengthened that perception.

Directed by H Vinoth, Jana Nayagan was positioned as a landmark film in Vijay’s career. Apart from being his 69th outing as an actor, it is also expected to be his final full-fledged acting project before he plunges headlong into politics. The film boasts a sprawling ensemble cast including Mamitha Baiju, Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Priyamani and Prakash Raj, and its trailer recently broke viewership records across languages. The buzz was unmistakable, and the release date of January 9 was being viewed by fans as a celebratory send off to one of Tamil cinema’s biggest stars.

However, the project has now been forced into a holding pattern as it awaits clearance from the CBFC. The producers have stated that the delay is due to ongoing censorship issues, a development that has already triggered legal proceedings, and intense debate within the industry. For fans who had begun planning their Pongal holidays around the film, the indefinite postponement has come as a bitter blow.

Meanwhile, Parasakthi continues to march ahead with its January 10 release plan. Helmed by Sudha Kongara, the film is set in the 1960s and revolves around the Anti Hindi agitations that rocked Tamil Nadu during that era. It marks Sivakarthikeyan’s 25th film as an actor and GV Prakash’s 100th project as a composer, making it a milestone release in its own right. Ravi Mohan’s turn as the antagonist has also been one of the film’s major talking points.

In an industry often defined by rivalry and box office one upmanship, Ravi Mohan’s message has cut through the noise. As Jana Nayagan waits for its date with destiny, the actor’s words have offered Vijay’s fans a sense of comfort. The clash may have vanished from the calendar, but the spirit of camaraderie has, for now, taken centre stage.
