Uttarakhand government is considering a ban on non-Hindus entering Haridwar’s 105 ghats, potentially restoring a 1916 agreement. The state also plans to declare Haridwar and Rishikesh as ‘holy cities’. This move follows demands from some religious leaders, though opposition exists among residents and former Ganga Sabha officials.

The incident took place on December 29, when members of the Hindu Raksha Dal allegedly distributed swords and other weapons near their office in the Shalimar Garden X-2 area.

The court observed that a candidate’s medical fitness, including the presence of tattoos, must be assessed.
