Watch: When Ranveer Singh Dedicated His Filmfare Win to Wife Deepika Padukone

The Filmfare Awards have seen countless iconic moments over the decades, but few feel as raw and genuine as the night of the 67th Filmfare Awards. As we celebrate the birthday of Deepika Padukone, we look back at a special highlight from that evening: the moment her husband, Ranveer Singh, won the Best Actor in a Leading Role (Male) award for his performance in 83.

Ranveer Singh is often known for his flamboyant personality and high-octane energy. However, as he walked onto the stage to collect the Black Lady, the audience saw a different side of him, vulnerable, humbled, and deeply emotional.

As he held the trophy, Ranveer was visibly emotional as he reflected on his journey in the film industry. Amidst the applause, he made sure to acknowledge the person he considers his greatest strength. In a moment that quickly went viral, he turned to the audience and his wife, saying: “Mere ghar mein Laxmi hai,” (There is Goddess Laxmi in my home), attributing his good fortune and professional achievements to her presence in his life.

He didn’t stop there. With Deepika standing by his side, he looked at her with immense pride and concluded his speech by saying, “The secret to my success—my wife. Ranveer Singh, powered by Deepika Padukone!”

The clip from that night remains a favourite for fans because it wasn’t just about an award but was also about the partnership between two of Bollywood’s biggest stars. While Ranveer was being honoured for his memorable portrayal of Kapil Dev, he chose that platform to remind everyone that his success isn’t a solo journey.

Deepika, who also played Romi Dev in the film, looked on with visible emotion as Ranveer thanked her. His wholesome shoutout to Deepika impressed everyone present. It showed a side of him beyond the celebrity and showed a husband acknowledging his wife’s support in the most adorable way possible.

Karan Johar Canât Stop Praising Agastya Nandaâs Theatrical Debut in Ikkis

Filmmaker Karan Johar has penned a note of appreciation for Sriram Raghavan’s latest release, Ikkis. It marks Agastya Nanda and Simar Bhatia’s theatrical debuts and also stars Jaideep Ahlawat and late actor Dharmendra. KJo called the film a love letter to peace and said that he was emotional watching Dharmendra on screen. He also praised Agastya for his performance.
Karan’s note read, “IKKIS is a love letter to peace… an honestly and earnestly told story about the absolute redundancy of war….i was so moved by so many moments of the film … it silently screams … and that’s where Sriram Raghavan gets it so right… i was moist eyed every time Dharamji was on screen…. He has the most towering screen presence and yet  can be so gentle and your heart goes out to his immensely dignified portrayal of a grieving father …. @jaideepahlawat proves time and again what an outstanding force of nature he is…he is ROCK SOLID!! (sic)”

He continued, “Agastya Nanda is OUTSTANDING as the 21 year old Arun Khetarpal… his  endearing innocence , silent resolve and eventual climax break out proves his metal as an artist… was so  proud and excited to see him emerge as such a sincere and solid actor… can’t wait to see his journey unfold… Kudos to Dinoo and @maddockfilms for supporting this brave and new take on a war film….(sic)”
The filmmaker also urged people to watch the film.

Filmfare’s Review of Ikkis
Filmfare’s reviewer gave the film 4 out of 5 stars and wrote, “All war films, when honest, are essentially anti-war films. Ikkis is another reminder of that truth. Though it recounts one of India’s most heroic wartime chapters, it is never interested in chest-thumping or spectacle for its own sake. Reality, after all, hits harder than fiction. The film traces the life and death of 2nd Lt. Arun Khetarpal, who was just 21 when he laid down his life on December 16, 1971, at the Battle of Basantar, one of the largest tank battles since World War II. Serving with the 17 Poona Horse, Arun destroyed ten Pakistani tanks before a shell ended his life. Raghavan stages these sequences with grit and restraint, placing the viewer inside the chaos rather than above it. The tank warfare, much like Pippa (2023), is detailed, immersive, and sobering. But Ikkis finds its deepest resonance away from the battlefield. Dharmendra’s Madan Lal Khetarpal belongs to a generation shaped by Partition, men who saw displacement, loss, and fractured identities up close. Born in 1935, Dharmendra would have witnessed those horrors as a child, and that memory seems to seep into his performance.”
