Israel’s recognition of Somaliland as an independent state has sparked significant diplomatic backlash across Africa and the Middle East. This move reopens the debate over the de facto state, which declared independence from Somalia in 1991 and has its own government and institutions but lacks international recognition.

The arrested accused are Jitesh Prakash Sisodia, Chief Executive Officer of GKM IT, Shilpa Sirohi, the firm’s executive head, and her husband, Gaurav Sirohi.
