The incident occurred during Ekadashi, a sacred Hindu observance, as thousands of devotees gathered. Authorities reportedly struggled to manage the immense crowd, leading to the fatal crush.

The stampede erupted during a heavy rush of devotees at the Venkateswara Swamy temple in Kasibugga on the occasion of Ekadashi.
