After days of tense diplomacy in Istanbul, Afghanistan and Pakistan have concluded their high-stakes negotiations aimed at defusing the simmering crisis along their volatile border.

A tense hostage situation in Mumbai concluded with the captor, Rohit Aarrya, dead after firing at police. Aarrya held 17 children and two others at a recording studio for nearly two hours.
