The demise of Satish Shah has left the industry in shock. Tributes are being poured on him on social media from his industry peers and fans alike. The Main Hoon Na actor passed away on Saturday, October 25, after suffering from kidney-related issues. Filmmaker Farah Khan, who directed Shah in films such as Main Hoon Na and Om Shanti Om, took to Instagram to express her grief and wrote, “Rest in peace dearest Satish. you were a joy to know n work with. will miss u sending me memes n jokes everyday .”
Director-producer Karan Johar shared the late actor’s photo and added, “Om Shanti”, along with folded hand emojis. Fashion director Madhur Bhandarkar also offered condolences to Shah’s family. He shared, “I’m deeply shocked to hear about the demise of the talented actor Satish Shah sir . On the big screen & television, he entertained us with his diverse roles and outstanding performances. My deepest condolences to his family and admirers.”
Kajol wrote, “Gone to soon, but your laughter will echo forever, rest in peace Satish Ji”
Actress Nimrat Kaur also paid tribute to Shah with a note that read, “Thank you for all the joy and light you spread dear Sir … Such a tragic, irreplaceable loss. Rest in peace #SatishShah…” Besides them, tributes also poured in from Johny Lever and Ashoke Pandit.
Lever wrote, “Feeling extremely sad to share that we’ve lost a great artist & my dearest friend of over 40 years. It’s hard to believe—I had spoken to him just two days ago. Satish Bhai, you will truly be missed. Your immense contribution to film and television will never be forgotten. @sats.workplace”
Satish Shah made his debut in 1970 with the film Bhagwan Parshuram. He went on to do several films and shows in a career spanning over five decades. He is best known for his roles in the 1984 sitcom Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi where the actor played 55 different characters in 55 episodes. He is also known for playing the goofy and sarcastic Indravadhan Sarabhai in the show Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, which also starred Ratna Pathak Shah, Rupali Ganguly, Sumeet Raghavan and Rajesh Kumar. Some of his other memorable roles are in Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro, Kal Ho Naa Ho, Fanaa, Om Shanti Om, Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge and Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa, among others.
