A murder accused in Uttar Pradesh’s Azamgarh jail masterminded a Rs 30 lakh fraud, siphoning funds from the jail’s account after obtaining a chequebook on bail. He, along with a fellow inmate, a senior assistant, and a watchman, forged signatures to transfer the money. The scheme unraveled after the jail superintendent noticed suspicious withdrawals.
