Sresan Pharma owner S Ranganathan has been arrested in Chennai over the deaths of several children in Madhya Pradesh linked to the toxic cough syrup ‘Coldrif’.

The trial of two men accused of spying for China was scheduled to begin this week in London. But prosecutors unexpectedly dropped the case last month, The New York Times reported.

G Ranganathan, owner of Sresan Pharmaceuticals, has been arrested by a Madhya Pradesh team in connection with the toxic Coldrif cough syrup linked to 21 deaths. Ranganathan, a veteran in the pharmaceutical industry known for his nutritional syrup Pronit, faces scrutiny as his manufacturing unit has been sealed and his office cleared out.
