The devastating floods in Punjab have claimed 29 lives so far, the maximum in Pathankot district, besides impacting the lives of more than 2.56 lakh people, officials said on Monday.

With cars queuing almost bumper-to-bumper, the traffic jam on the Delhi-Jaipur highway stretched up to 7-8 kilometres and people were stuck for over 3 hours after heavy rain hit Gurugram Monday, throwing normal life out of gear.

The Army dismantled a Trinamool Congress stage in Kolkata’s Maidan, citing a violation of permit regulations regarding the duration of events in the area. Mamata Banerjee criticized the BJP, accusing them of using the Army, while urging the forces to remain neutral. TMC alleges political targeting and plans to relocate the protest.
