Imtiaz Ali’s next, Amar Singh Chamkila starring Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra is one of the most anticipated films of the year. The biopic explores the life and times of the titular slain Punjabi singer. The trailer is out now.

The trailer of Amar Singh Chamkila introduces us to the “Elvis of Punjab” as he begins his singing career, writes controversial lyrics and faces widespread criticism. The clip also introduces Parineeti Chopra as Amarjot, Chamkila’s wife.

Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra lend their voices to the Imtiaz Ali film which was shot largely in real locations. Their natural portrayal and the realistic look and feel of rustic Punjab make for a promising watch.

Opening up about the film’s making, Imtiaz Ali shared, “Stories of young musicians that challenge the norms of society, who see unprecedented success and then have violent ends is, unfortunately, a worldwide phenomenon. The life and times of Chamkila raised important questions for society but ultimately it is a celebration of the life of an artist, the story of a musician who could never give up his first love – Music.” 

Amar Singh Chamkila will be released on April 12 on OTT.

Ranbir Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor were seen spending some quality time in the city late last night. The two were clicked by the paparazzi after dinner.

For the outing, Ranbir opted for a casual look comprising a white t-shirt with blue jeans. Meanwhile, Neetu Kapoor looked lovely in a black top and white pants. Earlier, the two, joined by Alia Bhatt were clicked at their under-construction home in Mumbai.
