A West Bengal minister’s statement that any incident that happens in the state is blown out of proportion has been used by the BJP to attack the Trinamool Congress and claim that he was talking about the rape of the law student in Kolkata last week.

Some 1,350 schools will be fully or partially closed due to the heat, up significantly from around 200 on Monday. The top floor of the Eiffel Tower will be closed on Tuesday and Wednesday, with visitors advised to drink plenty of water.
